I'm looking for a Class 6 MD truck for my business. Mileage per year will be probably 5-7k since it will be all local and so gas vs. diesel isn't that much of a consideration from a fuel cost standpoint. I'm not against a diesel, but I like the gas option since I can probably do most maintenance and repairs myself. Given Class 6, most will have hydraulic brakes and Ford will have the Lucas-Girling system in the years I'm looking at which I'm going to stay away from. So that leaves me with... 1990s 366/427 gas engines ..read more

So I have a 36 gmc that I am building with a 2000 4.3 vortec. The engine ran great before I pulled it from the donor truck about 3 years ago, So I finally got to start it and #1 & #6 injectors are not firing, so i thought, well probably a couple of bad injectors from setting so long. Installed the updated injectors and still the same. The fuel pressure is 65lbs key on, 60lbs running, crk/cam correlation at 0, I have 12.6 volts at the injectors at the injector head, 12.6 volts on the 6 pink... dead injector ..read more

All of a sudden my gear shift will not return to the park position.... I did take the linkage off under the steering wheel and it appears to be in the steering column somewhere since it didn't change the response of the shifter going into park. Does anyone have any past experience with this kind of situation?? thanks Heath ..read more

Hello, I love suburbans, I bought the 1990s body style as soon as it came out in 1992. About 10 years ago, I bought a really nice 1998 that was owned by a fire department. Two years ago, I bought the K2500 beast and put a stoopid amount of money in her. She is like a time capsule, like new. but! we are needing to downsize. I put her on eBay with a reserve of $10,000. That’s about half of what I have in her. The top bid was a little less than $8500 (didn’t sel). Am I crazy? Thinking of... 1995 K2500 Suburban ..read more

Building 4 blocks to raise truck 6-7 inchs to work on.

This took a while but wanted to share.. I wanted to raise the truck 6-7 inches to be able to work on it easier. I had an old, treated lumber playset that I broke down and saved in the garage, Built four wood sections, 7 inches high for each wheel in a Criss cross pattern for the wood. Most are 4x4 with some 2 x6. Used 6-in Hot-Dipped Galvanized Ring Pole Barn Nails and a 3/16 pilot hole. Impossible to drive these directly in and wood would split. Used a lot of these and do cost some... Building 4 blocks to raise truck 6-7 inchs to work on ..read more

Collapsed Lifter 2006 L33

Well it finally happened. My intermittent lifter tick just turned into a solid full time tick. I'm a decent mechanic but really don't want to do this job, but a local and reputable shop just quoted me over $5k to replace cam and lifters. $500 parts and 14 hours labor! Does that sound right? So I guess I'm gonna tackle it. Need observations and suggestions. This is a non-afm L33 aluminum block engine. 1. Where to get parts? Dealer, Summit? Brands to look for or stay away from? I just...
