I picked up a 1990 2wd 2.3 5 speed Ranger a few days ago and found some of the wires had been cut. I fixed all of them except for two, and I can't seem to figure out where they should go. I've looked at some wiring diagrams and connector locations, but I just couldn't figure it out. I do know it's one of the connectors that's supposed to be mounted on the driver side inner fender. I have a 89 ranger 2.3l with original never touched motor (high miles). The expansion plug has rusted out so I have pulled the motor to replace them all. I have all new seals and gaskets to put in. As I took the head off the block I noticed the valves have a lot build up. I was wondering if I should replace them since I have everything apart? Or anything else like rocker arms or lifters etc? I have never worked on the inside of the motor so any tips would be greatly appreciated ..read more

Hi all, I have an '01 4.0 sohc ranger and I'm planning on turning it into a fun ride for no particular purpose. Just a cool thing to cruise around and maybe take to the track once and a while just to see how well it can do without doing an engine swap. I was wondering if anyone had any info on building a twin turbo set up for a 4.0 litre without just shoving the exhaust out the hood. I did a valve job and reassembled engine, taking care to connect everything back to their original connections. Starts immediately and idles smooth, then dies. Listening through the fuel filler pipe the fuel pump is not kicking on. But it does kick on upon turning the key to start the motor, to prime the system. Fuel pump was replaced 5000 miles ago, I blew out the plumbing with compressed air, etc. Any suggestions ..read more

Hello, first post...2000 Trailhead, 262k miles, still runs like the day I bought it. Question: is there a definitive answer on whether or not you can simply drop the oil pan on this model to change the gasket? I have a 83 with 351w c6 trans and the correct teeth on the cable but my speedometer doesn't work. When it's not plugged into the cluster the cable spins freely and just fine but when it's connected it doesn't work. I've tried a using a different speedometer and that too doesn't spin. It worked only when I hooked it up to drill and spun it backwards. What am I doing wrong or what could be the problem I'm not seeing ..read more

I have a 2000 Ranger 3.0 auto that I just got. It runs and drives fantastic at highway speed, good consistent power. When I go to stop it shudders and idles rough and does the same when I take off, like it’s bogging.
