Undrafted free agency is an important part of the team-building process. From a pure numbers perspective, the NFL has to rely on undrafted free agents to compromise somewhere between a quarter and a third of all active players — not even counting practice squads. According to a report from Safid Deen of USA Today, Dolphins owner Stephen Ross was considering selling the team and other assets like Hard Rock Stadium and the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix for $10 billion.  Deen says Ross ultimately rejected the enormous offer, wanting to keep the team and other assets in his family. The Dolphins announced on Monday that they have exercised the fifth-year options on LB Jaelan Phillips and WR Jaylen Waddle. Waddle’s fifth-year option is worth $15.591 million for the 2024 season, while Phillips’ fifth-year option is worth $13.25 million. Waddle, 25, was a part-time starter at Alabama. He was a first-team All-American as a sophomore before suffering an ankle injury that cost him a good portion of the 2020 season. According to Tom Pelissero, the Dolphins are signing UDFA QB Gavin Hardison out of Texas-El Paso. Hardison, 23, had his final college season cut short when he underwent Tommy John surgery on his throwing elbow. He began his career at New Mexico Military Institute before transferring to UTEP. In five seasons at UTEP, Hardison appeared in 37 games and completed 570 of his 1,061 passes (53.7 percent) for 7,963 yards to go along with 40 touchdowns and 33 interceptions.
