It's the start of winter and mushrooms are still thriving. Fungi mainly thrive in autumnal temperatures, this is due to the large amount of moisture which helps them to grow. Now in winter there is still moisture however the temperatures are cooler. Luckily, we will still see mushrooms till around the end of winter when it will be to cold for many to survive. As you go about your day make sure you keep an eye out for fungi before the season ends. Okay so I found a fungi on my lawn I identified it and worked out what is was. I wanted to know if any of you could figure out it’s name, your challenge is to research this mushroom and discover it’s identity! Fungi are beautiful... yes some are poisonous but we should appreciate them and what better way to do that than to draw them!! Drawing fungi can be hard but it is always good to try something new. Get your sketch book out and have a go. Make sure you add those small details like gills and maybe you could even shade it in? Have fun with your drawing and add a pretty frame or add a flashy signature at the bottom, go wild!!! You could even draw this fungi I found a phew days ago ..read more

Though the name sounds horrible, this fungus atcually can be eaten (if well cooked that is) otherwise poisonous! In fact this is it! Fairly easy too find if you ask me as they are around all year and found in a lot of places (old straw bails, manure,compostheaps and rich soil) To be honest I found it in a woodchip pile ..read more
