A new coronavirus vaccine has been shown to be 89.3% effective in large-scale UK trials. The Novavax jab is the first to show in trials that it is effective against the new virus variant found in the UK, the BBC’s medical editor Fergus Walsh said. The PM welcomed the “good news” and said the UK’s medicines regulator would now assess the vaccine. Five more patients have died from COVID-19, according to updates by the Ghana Health Service (GHS). This brings the country’s death toll to 377. As of 23rd January 2021, 616 new cases have been recorded raising the active case count to 3,813. A 16-year-old girl identified as Mariam Batuley, a JHS Three(3) student has committed suicide by hanging, yesterday , the 18th of September 2020 at Abesewa, a Community at Dunkwa On Offin in Upper Denkyira East. According to a relative, she left the house last night around 10 pm to attend to nature’s call which is a few meters from the house of which she didn’t return.
