The post John Klingberg Traded by Ducks to the Minnesota Wild appeared first on NHL Trade Talk.
John Klingberg was traded under the wire on Friday and moved to the Minnesota Wild. Klingberg is a skilled puck-moving defenceman who’s great on the powerplay. He will help the Wild this season if they’re able to maintain pace and make it into the postseason. He’s unlikely to be re-signed by the Wild considering their cap concerns and will probably be a rental.
The Wild are sending their 4th in 2025, Andrej Sustr and the rights to Eric Nesterenko. The Ducks are retaining half the salary ($3.5 millio ..read more

The post John Klingberg Not Worth a First-Round Pick in Deadline Trade appeared first on NHL Trade Talk.
The apparent asking price is extremely high for defensemen at this point in the season and as teams start to make calls well ahead of the 2023 NHL Trade Deadline. With rumors the San Jose Sharks might be asking for as much as three first-round picks for Erik Karlsson, or that the price on Jakob Chychrun remains the equivalent of two firsts and a prospect, it’s no wonder that trades haven’t taken place yet.
That makes the rumors surrounding a player like John Klingberg all that more intrigui ..read more

The post NHL Coaches On Early Hot Seat According to Insiders appeared first on NHL Trade Talk.
Just a few games into the NHL season, there are some coaches on the hot seat already. Some organizations have gotten off to a less-than-stellar start and that has potentially put their employment in jeopardy as the second week of the season approaches.
This isn’t to say that teams will be firing their bench bosses already, but if things don’t turn around quickly, names like Lindy Ruff, Dallas Eakins, and Bruce Boudreau could be on their way out, says a few sources.

The Minnesota Wild have traded defenseman Dmitry Kulikov to the Anaheim Ducks for future considerations. A move done so the Wild could clear up some much-needed cap space, GM Bill Guerin called the deal a “tough one”, but added, “We need some more cap space. We felt we had one too many defensemen and we don’t want to put guys in a position to where they’re not playing or not playing enough.”

While he didn’t land the deal he was looking for this summer, offensive-defenseman John Klingberg says he’s focused on using his one-year deal with the Anaheim Ducks as a transitional season into a longer-term deal that will see him get what he wanted when he became an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
Klingberg was looking to hit a home run but acknowledged in a recent interview that the options just weren’t there for him. As a result, he narrowed down his choices from a few short-term offers and went with the Ducks because he believed they offered the best fit for him. Klingberg explai ..read more

One of the biggest free agent options on the market, reports are that the bigger-money, long-term contract he was looking for wasn’t out there.
