The Ducks add even more size on Day 2 of the NHL Draft.
The Anaheim Ducks did damage with their eight selections in the 2022 NHL Draft. After selecting Pavel Mintyukov and Nathan Gaucher in the first round on Thursday night, the Ducks continued building out the prospect pool during Day 2.

The Ducks select large skaters to bolster positions of strength.
The Anaheim Ducks entered the 2022 NHL Draft needing to bolster their already impressive core of young talent. A headliner of that group, Mason McTavish, even made an appearance in Montreal alongside management and scouts to welcome the new faces of the organization.

The Anaheim Ducks are going into the first round next week armed with two first-round selections, the first being their original selection, and the second coming at 22 overall, by way of the Boston Bruins, thanks to a trade deadline move that sent Hampus Lindholm to the Eastern Conference.

Anaheim loses two pieces of their forward core to separate issues.
On Sunday, the Anaheim Ducks announced that they would be placing Rickard Rakell on injured reserve, and that his status would be week-to-week. They also announced that Jakob Silfverberg had been placed on the NHL’s COVID Protocol list. In a corresponding move, the Ducks recalled forward Vinni Lettieri from the San Diego Gulls of the American Hockey League, as well as an emergency recall of Sam Carrick.

With reports surrounding Dylan Strome’s availability, it’s rumored that he could be an option for Anaheim.
Things have not gone well for Dylan Strome in Chicago this season.

Jones will be sidelined until at least February, and potentially the entire season.
Anaheim Ducks forward Max Jones has suffered a torn pectoral muscle and will have surgery to repair it next Wednesday. He will be out for four to six months, which means at the earliest he’ll return in February, but he could be out for the remainder of the season if things in his recovery don’t progress as quickly as hoped.

The 18-year-old forward left last night’s game early with an apparent leg injury.
There’s trouble in Orange County, as rookie forward Mason McTavish left last night’s game against the Calgary Flames early with an apparent leg injury. The team called it a “lower-body injury,” and McTavish was seen wobbling out of the arena later that night.
He was hurt around the middle frame of the second period, while taking a hit in his own zone. He left shortly after that and never returned to the bench.

Coming off of a heartbreaking loss, the Ducks will get John Gibson back for their first road game of the season.
The Anaheim Ducks are coming off of an unfortunate loss in Orange County to the Minnesota Wild, in which backup goaltender Anthony Stolarz almost managed to steal the show.
