The vultures of Zion Land

In year three, the legend of Zion Williamson in New Orleans feels more like a myth now. Despite what his name indicates in the meaning of the Jewish faith, Zion is far off from leading New Orleans, or anyone else, into the “promised land”. The Pelicans, clearly in distress in the absence of their No. 1 overall pick from 2019, are surrounded by looters. There are those that want Zion to become the ultimate New Orleans legend, those that want to see him leave for somewhere else, those that want to see him fail, aspiring media personalities hyper-reporting-embellishing to get noticed, and even we ..read more

Coach Willie Green is the Pelicans’ best asset and he needs to be given patience and time

It’s Saturday night and I’m watching the New Orleans Pelicans cut a New York Knicks lead down to five while a fierce battle happens in the fourth quarter on a night Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson are not playing. Second-round pick out of Alabama Herb Jones is harassing Julius Randle, Kira Lewis Jr. is running the offense faster than Speedy Gonzales, and Jonas Valančiūnas did his best Wilt Chamberlin impression. While all this may not be enough to win the game, the Pelicans were supposed to be blown out by the 4-1 Knicks without their two cornerstones, right? With Ingram, only 25 ppg leadin ..read more

Devonte’ Graham Video Breakdown

(Photo Credit: Charlotte Hornets) I know some people have been really disappointed in the offseason so far, but I think part of the reason for the disappointment is because many don’t know much about our new players. Now, I won’t pretend I’ve watched every Graham game or that I’m an expert on him, but I did do a good amount of homework on him so you don’t have to & I’ll give my thoughts in the following video. Originally it was going to be a little 2-4min video but now it’s hovering around 20mins. If the length of the video scares you, don’t worry it’s broken down into simple digestible se ..read more

Are The Pelicans Really After Kyle Lowry?

The draft is almost upon us with free agency soon to follow. As the clock winds down towards July 29th, rumors from every corner of the internet flood the news waves. I want to talk about two particular rumors that have been reported by several major outlets and seem to be related. First, the Pelicans are expected to enter the free agency sweepstakes for Kyle Lowry. Apparently the way the Pelicans are looking to open up the necessary cap space for Kyle Lowry is by salary dumping Eric Bledsoe to the Memphis Grizzlies using pick number 10. There is a lot to unpack here so let’s dive right in wit ..read more

Austin Reaves is a 6’5” guard who played for the Oklahoma Sooners. Averaging 18.3 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 4.6 assists, Reaves shined his senior year as a versatile initiator and playmaker. Reaves was able to not only score from all over the court, but his playmaking made him a dangerous threat creating for others. One area he particularly he excelled at was getting to the free throw line, averaging 6.8 free throws per game. On Monday July 12th, Reaves worked out for the New Orleans Pelicans along with 5 other prospects. Among those at the workout were Chris Duarte, Aaron Henry, Feron Hunt, R ..read more

‘Tailor-made for Zion’: Looking at Corey Kispert and others in the upcoming draft

The NBA Finals haven’t even arrived and there’s already drama centered around the New Orleans Pelicans this offseason that began with two things, a rumor that soon-to-be third-year franchise star Zion Williamson could possibly want out and the ousting of head coach Stan Van Gundy after 8 months on the job. Many are assuming the franchise is in a dangerous position early on in the Zion era, which could be true. It could also be true that the franchise is on a much more positive track than acknowledged. Improvement is absolutely necessary next season but with a promising young roster and a boat ..read more

Hello Pels fans, after the final game of the season myself, Shamit, & Jason had good time wrapping up the season with the Pelicans community. Hello Pels fans, if you don’t know, we’ve been hosting a spaces chat after a few of the games & I think they’ve been really fun so I decided to record our latest chat so those of you that missed the chat can enjoy some of the moments or to allow those who were involved to re-listen to it. This is a severely chopped down version of our chat, this spaces was 1hr 30mins and I believe this was by far the shortest spaces we held so far. I really enjoy chatting with the Pels community & I hope this is something we can keep going. Andrew (DruProductions) · Pels Post Game Safe Space (5/11 ..read more

The Pelicans Are Improving On Defense

Photo Cred: Ashley Amoss/Pelicans Going into the season, one of my biggest questions around the Pelicans was if they could put forth a sustainable defense around Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram. Stan Van Gundy, Steven Adams, and Eric Bledsoe were all brought in to steady the defense around the Pelicans’ undisciplined young core. However, the Pelicans are currently one of the worst defensive teams in the league. Contributing to the 27th ranked defense are a number of maladies – from opponents bombarding the Pelicans from deep on a nightly basis, to Eric Bledsoe turning into one of the least ..read more
