Sekeres and Price: Frank Seravalli talking with Matt Sekeres and Blake Price about Vancouver Canucks pending RFA defenseman Filip Hronek and if Noah Hanifin‘s contract extension with the Vegas Golden Knights is a comparable. Hanifin got eight years and $58.8 million – a $7.35 million cap hit.
** NHLRumors.com transcription
Seravalli: “70% of a comp. Hanifin is not a right shot. Hanifin is close to being as productive as Hronek but not quite as productive since his career began. And there are some, little older, so I’d say it’s 70% of a comp but not all the way there.

With the NHL Playoffs about to get underway, it felt like a great time to look at those who made an impact from the NHL Trade Deadline. That is correct. A few players shifted their teams into even better versions of themselves.
Sadly, some players in the West cannot be mentioned. The Western Conference is like the Eastern Conference of last year; it was so top-heavy at the NHL trade deadline. Take teams like the Vegas Golden Knights and Winnipeg Jets, who made multiple big moves at the deadline to improve their teams heading into the playoffs.

The Vegas Golden Knights likely won’t have the cap space for some of their free agents
Danny Webster of the Las Vegas Review-Journal: At the trade deadline many didn’t think the Vegas Golden Knights would be in the market for a defenseman. Instead, they trade for defenseman Noah Hanifin and signed him to a seven-year contract extension on Thursday at a $7.35 million cap hit.
The Golden Knights have eight forwards, seven defensemen and two goalies under contract for next year with about $7.59 million in projected cap space. This is assuming Robin Lehner remains on the LTIR.
