Last night’s result sucked. Big props to the many Atlanta fans that drove up for the weeknight match. Especially given the current state and form of United. The story of the season for Nashville SC so far is not that they’ve only lost once, but how many points they already dropped at home. Twelve matches done and the MLS season is basically a third over. NSC has played 9 of the 12 at home and while in a playoff spot right now, they really should be higher in the table. That said, the season really all depends on how well the Ake Loba signing works out. Here are some random thoughts on the seas ..read more

Nashville SC 2021 Season Preview

We are less than a week away form the start of the 2021 MLS season. Being honest, I’m not as excited for the start of Nashville SC’s 2nd season in MLS as I would have thought. The limited capacity and spaced out seating is going to lessen the in stadium atmosphere. Even worse is no tailgating at Nissan Stadium. Hanging with fellow soccer fans before matches is one of the best parts. Sadly, it looks like it might not be until the new stadium at the Fairgrounds opens in 2022 before fans get to experience what MLS opener versus Atlanta United was like again. That said, the show must go on and at ..read more

You can’t describe the inaugural season in MLS for Nashville SC as anything other than a success on the field. Given the relatively meager roster spend finishing the season in 7th place in the Eastern Conference exceeded the pre season expectations of most everyone. Looking back now I’ve listed the best and worst moves the team made in year one. Given the success of the season it’s not surprising there were more good moves than bad, but lets get those out of the way. Worst Moves of the Season Signing David Accam Without a doubt this has been the worst move in Nashville SC history. Way back in ..read more

Nashville SC Lowers Season Ticket Pricing For Next Season

In a fairly unique move for a sports franchise, Nashville SC is lowering season ticket prices next year on the majority of sections. You can see ticket pricing for the 2021 season pictured above which was released a few hours after this post. The team is currently having those that took credits due to COVID-19 for next season renew their tickets. What fans are discovering is that prices have dropped on north end, east side and supporter’s sections. For example, East side Midfield season tickets were reduced from $50 to $43 and the East Sideline from $35 to $30. In addition, this lower pricing ..read more

Nashville SC Puts in Worst Performance in Match Orlando Players Pushed to Play

Nashville SC lost 3-1 at Orlando City SC last night. The performance on the field was arguably the worst yet. I’ll have a few brief comments on the match itself in the last paragraph, but game will forever be remembered for that fact that it was even played. The storyline started in the afternoon when the NBA’s Milwaukee Bucks decided to not to play in support of Black Lives Matter, social justice and justice for Jacob Blake. Shortly after all NBA games were canceled for the eventing and it was clear there was good chance MLS would follow suit. Protest Came Together Fast The big issue for MLS ..read more

Atlanta United 2-0 Nashville SC – More Evidence That a DP Striker is Overdue

Nashville SC lost 2-0 to Atlanta United last night in what was another frustrating match for fans. Once again, the team played well enough to get a result, but the lack of quality in the final third wasn’t there. Contrast this with Atlanta who got two great goals from DP Pity Martinez. What was clear before the season started is now obvious. The team needs a number 9. Until they sign a proven goal scorer the frustrations for fans will continue. Pity Martinez Goals Show What Nashville SC Need Most the match was an even game. Both teams getting forward at times, but neither really producing much ..read more

Questionable Decisions Led to Removal of Nashville SC From MLS is Back Tournament

MLS announced today that Nashville SC has been removed from the MLS is Back Tournament. It wasn’t surprising given five Nashville SC players tested positive for COVID-19 forcing the postponement of their match versus Chicago Fire earlier in the week. Then tonight just before kickoff of the opening tournament match it was announced four additional players tested positive leaving the league little choice. It’s a big blow for the club as their opening match versus Chicago would have been on ESPN with no competition from other sports. TV ratings for the Bundesliga and NWSL have been up significant ..read more

How COVID 19 And Postponed Matches Will Effect Nashville SC

COVID-19 has shut down not just MLS but the entire sports world. With social distancing and stay at home orders in place for a majority of America we are in unchartered waters. No one really knows what is going to happen with the rest of Nashville SC’s inaugural season in MLS. That said, with nothing but time to think about it the past week the most likely scenario is the MLS season does resume at some point. I think the most likely scenario is they will have to rework a reduced schedule. If you look at Nashville SC schedule on their website six home matches have already been postponed. It loo ..read more

Nashville SC 1-0 Loss to Portland Shows Team Needs a DP Striker Now

Two games into their inaugural MLS season and so far to quote Dennis Green, Nashville SC is who we thought they were. When I wrote that the Nashville SC roster was disappointing to start preseason it was before they signed Walker Zimmerman. Yes, clearly he made them better and has been arguably their best player through the first two matches. Being solid defensively was never the problem with the roster build. The question was who is going to score goals. Ironically, through the two matches Zimmerman has been the only one. It’s clearly too early to panic, but it remains disappointing the front ..read more

Nashville Soccer Community Comes Together to Help Wilson United Soccer League

Like many places in Nashville and Middle Tennessee the tornadoes that hit early Tuesday morning did significant damage to the Wilson United Soccer League (WUSL). WUSL, a non-profit 501c3 organization, is mostly a large youth soccer recreational league. Most weekends during the season see over 1000 kids come to play. These leagues are where kids learn about teamwork, sportsmanship, get exercise and begin to learn the game of soccer. Many move from these types of leagues into youth club soccer which takes things to the next level. They practice and play at the Lebanon Soccer Complex located next ..read more
