The Bible is filled with verses about God’s promises of refuge and safety. They can touch your heart and cover you with comfort and peace. You will be able to say with a newfound confidence, “the Lord is my refuge!”  Refuge Meaning in the Bible We rarely use the word “refuge” today. We might hear a safe place, asylum, or sanctuary. But the meaning is the same. Refuge is a hiding place or sheltered from danger, trouble, or pursuit. Taking refuge in the Lord is a topic mentioned over and over in God’s Word. They mention refuge in a physical form (storms or enemies) or as a spiritual need in ..read more

Matthew, Mark, and John were all eyewitnesses to the spectacular miracle of Jesus and Peter walking on water. Jesus had just performed the miracle of the feeding of the 5000 with the 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish. He was seeking a time of solitude and prayer with His Father. He sent the disciples ahead in a boat to cross the Sea of Galilee. The ensuing storm brought opportunities to teach Jesus’  disciples valuable lessons in faith. The storms in our Christian life bring these same truths to light. Each Gospel has their own important details to add to this story of Peter walking on water ..read more

Bible Verses about Surrender-Living Without Fear
Busy Blessed Women

Surprisingly, while researching Bible verses about surrender, I found the word “surrender(s)” only occurs 18 times in the entire NIV Bible, and none in the KJV! We only find one verse in the New Testament -when Pilate surrenders Jesus to be crucified. I know there is a Biblical concept of surrendering our lives to Jesus. But where is it in the Bible?  The topic of “surrender” recently showed up everywhere- in my social feeds, TV shows, songs on the radio, the books I was reading, etc. When God gets my attention, I listen. I knew this wasn’t a coincidence. I had recently decide ..read more

Is anything more universal than the cross? We see it world-wide: on churches and walls, as jewelry and tattoos, and on foreheads on Ash Wednesday. For Christians, it symbolizes salvation. Jesus knew the cross was in His future. He also told His disciples that to be His follower, they needed to “take up their cross.” What did Jesus mean when he said to “take up your cross?” What Does the Cross Represent?  The cross represents fulfilled prophecy. God revealed His plan to defeat Satan and give us salvation through Jesus in Genesis! (Genesis 3:15) The cross in Jesus’ day symbolized the shamef ..read more

Good Friday ends on a somber note. Jesus’ followers were both terrified of being arrested and in complete shock, sorrow, and disbelief. The chief priests and religious leaders were relieved to have Jesus removed from their midst. Jesus’ death had Satan and his minions beside themselves with glee. But little did they all know- Easter Sunday was coming. Resurrection power was going to be unleashed! What is Resurrection Power?  The short answer: God’s power to raise Jesus from the dead. But it doesn’t end there. Jesus tells Martha, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believ ..read more

The Parable of the Prodigal Son is such a tender story of restoration and the merciful love of God. We find a forgiving father, a lost son, and a self-righteous older brother. We find this story in the Gospel of Luke 15:11-32.   The Prodigal Son Bible Verses  This story of the prodigal son comes right after two similar Parables- the Parable of the Lost Sheep and the Parable of the Lost Coin. (This parable is sometimes called the Parable of the Lost Son.)  Jesus told these three parables in response to comments made by the Pharisees. They were in the crowd as Jesus spok ..read more

God created us with five physical senses: sight, smell, hearing, taste, and touch. He intricately designed each sense organ to transmit information to our brain. Our five natural senses help us understand and notice what is happening in our world. He also designed our spiritual being with abilities to use our 5 spiritual senses.  Our 5 Senses We see our five senses used in the Bible in both literal and spiritual ways. The Bible tells us there is more than just our physical world; there is also an invisible spiritual realm.  They are distinctly different but both very real. God ..read more

God’s Unconditional Love

God’s Word has a lot to say about love. Jesus stressed the two greatest commandments were to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength and loving others as we love ourselves. But most importantly, He wants us to know His love; God’s unconditional love. Unconditional Love of God Meaning  It’s difficult for our minds to comprehend the concept of unconditional love.  1 John 4:18 explains, “God is love.” But how can someone “be” love?  We think of love as a noun- a strong affection for someone, or as a verb- to cherish and devote yourself to another.  The ..read more
