No Smoke without Fire as Montreal WTCS Mixed Relay Event Cancelled
The Montreal WTCS Mixed Team Relay Event was cancelled on Sunday because of hazardous smoky conditions as Canada battles its most devastating wildfire season on record.
Currently 426 forest fires are burning across Canada and the fires on both the Atlantic and Pacific coasts have burned 4.4 million hectares so far, which has forced thousands of Canadians from their homes and spread smoke that has left residents from Toronto to New York gasping for breath.

Beth Potter wins World Triathlon Championship Series in Montreal
Great Britain’s Beth Potter claimed her second win of the 2023 World Triathlon Championship Series after a strong run saw her triumph in Montreal.
The Scot, 31, punched the air in delight as she crossed the finish line in 58 minutes 10 seconds to add to her victory in Abu Dhabi in March.
She finished two seconds ahead of France’s Leonie Periault, with Summer Rappaport of the US third. Britain’s Georgia Taylor-Brown was 35 seconds behind Potter in seventh.

Yokohama was rocking before the World Triathlon Championship Race this Saturday 13th May, as an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.2 jolted eastern Japan early Thursday.

Frenchman Leo Bergere pounds the tarmac in Abu Dhabi to become the men’s 2022 World Triathlon Champion.

Wins for British duo Taylor-Brown and Yee in WTCS Montreal
Great Britain’s Georgia Taylor-Brown and Alex Yee won golds in their respective races in the World Triathlon Championship Series in Montreal.
In the final leg of the women’s eliminator format race, it was Georgia Taylor-Brown who crossed the line first in a time of 24:04 ahead of France’s Cassandre Beaugrand, with team-mate Scotland’s Beth Potter coming third to win her first WTCS medal.
