I recently discovered Days United, featuring Jewish, Chinese and Indian holiday celebrations in a box. Founded by Maya Lotan, their mission is to help families celebrate traditions and share the richness of our cultures with our communities. Their wonderful Rosh Hashanah box made our holiday more special and gave us a way to connect with family and friends, despite quarantine and having to celebrate apart this year.
Beautifully packaged and well organized the box included a booklet outlining the holiday traditions, symbols and blessings. There was a silicone baking dish and recipe for honey c ..read more

Today I joined a panel for ABC7 with Dr. Luis Sandoval, Dr. Cheryl Griggs and Denise Dador to discuss survival tips for parents during the pandemic. Homeschooling, working from home and 24 / 7 togetherness are causing a lot of stress for parents. Watch the video to hear what these incredible experts had to say along with my suggestions for embracing togetherness.
“We realize we have to balance between taking care of our children and working…set up realistic expectations…be in good communication with the teachers as well as the school, find out what their expectations are, because right now we ..read more

Here’s 10 ideas to keep kids busy at home during self-quarantine. Finding things to do while while staying home can be challenging for adults, much less for kids, so its time to get creative. I scoured the internet and local sites for these ideas. Hope they help!
#1 – Create a “wheel” your kids can spin to select different activities to do at home or in your neighborhood. We happen to have a prize wheel at home that we use at events. So my daughter filled the slots with her ideas of things to do. I’ve shared those below and added a few of my own. To do this, you don’t have to have a fancy spi ..read more

I tried out the ZeroWater 5-stage advanced filtration system to see how it filtered my tap water. I have to say – I was impressed. The five stage filter system really works! When I use the handy ZeroWater tester on bottled water versus the ZeroWater filtered water, the filtered water had less particles and contaminants in the water.
The photo above shows water that is contaminated. The idea of ZeroWater is that with the right filtration there should be zero contaminants in your water. I’m really picky about the product reviews I do, but lately clean water has been top of mind. Its ..read more

This past weekend, POMS, starring Diane Keaton and written and directed by Zara Hayes, opened in theaters nationwide. As a die-hard Bring It On! fan I was ready to watch a funny movie about older women achieving their dreams of becoming cheerleaders, but I wasn't expecting such a moving tribute to the power of friendship among women.
I had the chance to chat with movie creator Zara Hayes about POMS and her inspiration. Zara said she was drinking coffee on a Sunday morning on the sofa in London and saw pictures in the Observer Magazine of older women who ..read more
