Our mission is simple and direct: To lead the fight against hunger. We do this by distributing food to hungry Hoosiers through a network of over 250 partner agencies in 21 counties, including emergency food pantries, soup kitchens and shelters.

The Season of Giving is in full swing, which means a variety of ways to help us in the fight against food insecurity over the holiday season.
Giving Tuesday marked another successful day of Pack the Pantries with Fox 59 and CBS 4. In a single day, donors gave more than $90,000 for Gleaners and Midwest Food Bank. It was the second-biggest Pack the Pantries effort since June 2020. President & CEO Fred Glass appeared on Fox 59 for a live interview about the immense need Gleaners has seen firsthand in central and southeastern Indiana. Watch the interview below:

Gleaners is proud to be a charity partner of the Giving Machine this year. The vending machines, sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, conveniently give to local and international charities. Hoosiers can give to Gleaners, along with community partners Boys & Girls Club of Indianapolis and Flanner House, through the machines.
Indianapolis is one of just 61 cities worldwide that will be home to the machines this holiday season. You can donate to Gleaners at the machines, located at Clay Terrace in Carmel and Newfields in Indy, through Jan. 7, 2024.

With the help of community partners, Gleaners served holiday meals to nearly 1,400 families just ahead of Thanksgiving. At three separate giveaways, volunteers came together to provide Hoosier families with holiday food and grocery items.
Bill Estes Automotive hosted its annual Thanksgiving distribution on Monday, Nov. 20. Volunteers from IMPD joined the effort, loading up holiday meals into cars for 852 households.

The Indianapolis Urban League (IUL) is now home to a new food pantry in downtown Indy. The organization debuted the food pantry Wednesday, Nov. 8. It partnered with Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana, Roche and Kroger to bring the pantry to life.
Gleaners and IUL have a history of working together to feed neighbors in need. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Gleaners helped IUL distribute meal boxes to the community that totaled 1.1 million pounds of food. For seven years now, the central Indiana community has come together for the Hunger and Health Breakfast, hosted by Gleaners and the Indianapolis Business Journal. The breakfast is a time for leaders in health care and hunger relief to discuss the impact these issues have on our neighbors.

Select patients at IU Health Methodist Hospital will soon be eligible for a new community resource, thanks to a partnership with Gleaners, the American Heart Association and the Purdue Center for Health Equity and Innovation. Leaders from the partner groups cut the ribbon on the IU Health Nutrition Hub Wednesday.
The Nutrition Hub is a centralized place for patients and community members to learn about health and nutrition. The hub also features food lockers, which will give a select group of eligible patients access to free, fresh, nutritious food from Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana.

Colts defensive end Kwity Paye paid a special visit to Gleaners in partnership with Campbell’s and the Chunky Sacks Hunger community program.

Paye was one of 10 NFL defensive standouts chosen to be on the Soup Squad, serving as a representative for the Campbell’s campaign. During his visit, Paye and other volunteers packed enough boxes to make 2,500 meals for hungry Hoosiers.

Yesterday, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA)’s Economic Research Service released its annual Household Food Insecurity in the United States report, which examined American households’ ability to access sufficient food in 2022. While the results of this report may have been a surprise to some, they were not a surprise to Gleaners or our network partners.

Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana President/CEO Fred Glass announced today that the food bank has surpassed its original comprehensive campaign goal of $25.5 million, a full two years ahead of schedule. Based on this success, and recognizing increased need and costs, Gleaners is setting a new campaign goal of $30.5 million.

We’re pleased Congressional leaders and the White House have reached a tentative agreement to avoid default. Failure to do so would be catastrophic for our country as a whole, and particularly so for our neighbors facing food insecurity.
