Last weekend we had our last sports show, it was the ISE Show in Sandy Utah. We really appreciate everyone that stopped by, was good to catch up and see old friends. It feels like time to shift gears and get ready to head north. Jeremy and I are leaving on the 8th with lodge supplies, they go to Alaska Marine Line in Seattle, we think we will fill a 40' container. Once the container is in Juneau, Paul with Sea Level Transport will bring everything to Elfin Cove for us. Matt and Justen started taking off the shrink wrap off the boats in Juneau today.
I have a few weeks still with open boats. Ju ..read more

Winter is now upon us! Not much for a fishing update for this post. Thought I would give you an update on what we have been up to. Matt in Juneau has all the boats in hibernation. Jeremy & Breanna are expecting the arrival of a new baby soon. Jeremy & Larry have been busy working on reel repair and maintenance (when not hunting) & Bob is starting to melt lead again.
Last week I made a quick trip to Elfin Cove, we had a big wind/snow storm and it pushed our 3 pilings at the Shoreline dock over, we were abel to move the freezer dock off those pilings and got them straightened back up ..read more

2024 is fast approaching. It seems the older I get the faster time seems to go by.
We are pleased to announce that we are going to keep our prices the same for the 2024 season. $3,700 for the center console boats and $4,300 for the covered boats. We make this decision with a bit of caution, we are worried about the prices of everything going up. It really is a unique partnership we have with you our guests. How you operate/fish makes a big difference in everything. For example fuel usage. If you drive the boats full throttle at all times we will consume twice the amount of fuel vs running the ..read more

Sep 21st - End of Season Update
2023 was a great summer for Waters Edge! Thank you Thank you to all of the guests that visited us this year! We appreciate all of you very much. Also, a big thank you to all of our crew!
Biggest halibut for the year was 216 lbs. It was caught on the 24th of August out in the middle of Cross Sound. Ken gets credit for it being on his rod but I think it was a team effort to get that big halibut in the boat. My take on halibut this year was that it was slower than normal. We saw more smaller halibut than in the past.
King Salmon fishing was really good in June; we ..read more

Today we have another storm! It is starting to calm down today, only blowing 22 kts at Cape Spencer, yesterday it was gusting up to 40 kts. The open ocean conditions were not fishable. We were able to make it thru the pass, but the inside waters were 3' to 4' waves, made for a tough fishing day. Several boats came back in and relaxed. The frustrating thing is we all know the Coho/Silver fishing is at its peak. Hopefully tomorrow we will be able to get back out to Three Hill and get after the big Cohos again ..read more

Another sunny day!! We have had some nice blue sky warm sunny days. Flat calm water in the morning, then breezy in the afternoons. Rain is in the forecast for this weekend. Silvers/Coho are getting big but they have slowed since the storm. My best guess is that they moved inside after the storm, and we are waiting on the next batch to come through. I saw over 30 boats at Pleasant Reef while on the Noble Eagle yesterday. Halibut has slowed down also, having a hard time finding some good ones. I was very grateful to see Ron Tjaden this week, he is out fishing now with his dips diver and that pin ..read more

Fall is here. We went from a lovely 3- 4 week summer period to FALL weather. We have had a series of storms hit us. Lots of rain with wind. Always amazed at the power of Mother Nature. Alaska is an amazing place every once in awhile Alaska reminds us who is in charge. When this happens we have to fish in places where it is calm.
The Silver/Coho report is great. Three Hill is doing good. John & Tom got 11 in front of three hill yesterday. All colors seem to be working, depths are all over 20' - 70'. They are starting to get chunky also!!! Pinks are finally on the decline. We are seeing less ..read more

Weather has changed. We have had rain every day the last couple of days. Forecast for Saturday is a pretty significant storm. 11 foot seas for Cross Sound are on the forecast. We had a good run of good weather though, over 3 weeks of very nice warm temperatures and calm seas.
Silvers are getting bigger. We are seeing more of them and bigger size. Occasionally we are getting into them at Three Hill but the majority of them seem to be down the coast at Yakobi still.
We had a big day 2 days ago for halibut. 185,173,110,102. Was a good day to be halibut fishing.

I have been doing this for awhile, and just when you think you have seen it all something comes along. Royden brought a wooden reel he repaired and got working and caught a halibut and some salmon on it. How many can say they have fished with a wooden reel? That was a first for me.
Yes the weather is still great! We are having fog to begin our mornings, but it burns off quickly and turns to sunshine. And yes the open ocean is still calm! Yahoo!!!
Biggest halibut last week was 146 lb halibut, Ryodens boat caught it. Way to go guys! The halibut seem to be moving in with the Pink Salmon we are se ..read more
