Oh, what a day! What a lovely day! The first trailer for Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga has arrived and like its predecessor, it looks crazy gorgeous.
Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth star in George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road prequel. It’s been eight long, agonising years in the making but it looks like old Georgie boy has picked up right where he left off.
Anya and her too-far-apart eyes play a younger version of Imperator Furiosa, previously played by Charlize Theron. The official synopsis reads:
As the world falls, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers ..read more

Beleagured Disney CEO Bob Iger wasn’t the only senior executive to talk at the New York Times Dealbook Summit in New York earlier this week. Beleagured Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav was there, too!
He talked about the challenges the studio has faced from the merger to the pandemic. Zaslav is pretty famous, among Outposters, for being the axe-man. He has proven himself not afraid to take out his chopper and kill off projects. Batgirl, Scoob! and, recently, Coyote vs. Acme all felt the weight of his axe. Then there was a dramatic about-face over Coyote vs Acme.
Zaslav has put a spin o ..read more

The Bob Iger Pity Tour has become something of a fixture with Disney now. Ever since his return as CEO of Disney he has been talking about, and making excuses for, things not quite going according to plan. This is despite the fact that most of the issues they now face stem from seeds planted on his watch the first time around, and that he has been saying broadly the same things since his return with very little sign of change or action.
In the latest installment, he appeared at The New York Times‘ annual BookDeal summit earlier in the week where he had plenty more excuses.

One of the very few delights of watching TV in the past few years was discovering Gangs Of London from UK Sky TV. The ultra-violent, blood-soaked story of a power struggle in the London underworld was brilliant fun and great drama. Filming is underway now on Season 3, as Andrew Koji (Warrior), T’Nia Miller (The Fall of the House of Usher) and Richard Dormer (Game Of Thrones) all join the cast.
Joe Cole and Sope Dirisu return in the lead roles, and the new season begins with ex-undercover cop turned gangster Elliot now operating as a top-level crime lord alongside the Dumanis.

We have been saying it for a while here at Last Movie Outpost. Movies are just too damned expensive these days. When middling Marvel entries are knocking on the door of $300 million, and a movie coming in at just under $65 million is considered low-budget, something has clearly gone very, very wrong.
But wait, we hear you cry… well, not you, because Outposters are far too clever to think something so simplistic… everything has gone up! We are in a cost of living crisis as governments try to hide their near bankruptcy by inflating away debt. This means everything has soared and our incomes are ..read more

Not this year, unfortunately! In an unconventional move, Focus Features has announced a December 25th 2024 release date for Nosferatu. This is the highly anticipated remake from The Lighthouse, The Northman, and The Witch director Robert Eggers.
Bill Skarsgard, Lily-Rose Depp, Nicolas Hoult, Willem Dafoe, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin, Ralph Ineson, and Simon McBurney star in the film. It wrapped production at Barrandov Studio in Prague earlier this year. Rumors from the set were that it was a good experience, but the shoot was highly complex and unconventional. What delights will Eggers h ..read more

It is an important, and often overlooked historical fact, that one movie saved superheroes as a modern cinematic genre. Batman Forever made the wheels fall off, and Batman & Robin then drove the whole show face-first into a wall. It was done, and superheroes were a Hollywood joke. Then, just one year after Batman & Robin, Blade changed everything.
The 1998 film showed Hollywood where they were going wrong. Respect the source material, respect the audience, accept that comics aren’t just for kids, and treat potential audiences as adults. The result… a smash hit that is still fondly rega ..read more

In what will surely be a well-balanced, subtle and nuanced piece of work, Iranian filmmaker Ali Abbasi has cast Donald Trump for his upcoming new film The Student.
Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Sebastian Stan, will play the young Donald Trump.
The movie will cover Trump’s formative years building his real estate business in New York in the 1970s and 1980s. It will also deal with his relationship with attorney Roy Cohn.
The project is written by Gabriel Sherman, who directed some episodes of The Last Of Us and authored The Loudest Voice in the Room: How the Brilliant, Bombastic Roger Ailes Bui ..read more

Bonjour Le Outposters. I went to see Napoleon with two of my sons last night and have a hot off-the-press review for you. Let’s go!
First off let me say I am unapologetically a Ridley Scott fan. Yes, he has hits and misses and can be inconsistent, but he has far more good than bad. Ridley Scott’s good isn’t just normie good, it’s genre-defining good – Alien, Blade Runner, and Gladiator to name but a few. These are movies that are still the gold standard today. However, Napoleon was nowhere near this level and probably smack bang in the middle of the best of Ridley and the worst of Ridley.
