April 19, 2024 – Englewood, FL A Kissimmee man robbed the Dollar General store on Oceanspray Blvd. in Englewood, FL and attempted to flee from deputies, but was apprehended after a short chase. March 14, 2024 – Port Charlotte, FL An arrest during which a male suffered minor injuries has been falsely represented on social media, prompting misinformation, rumors, and accusations of the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office. March 7, 2024 – Port Charlotte, FL A motorcyclist fled an attempted traffic stop at a high rate of speed, unaware that the Aviation Unit tracked him to his destination – where an arrest was made. On March 4, 2024, members of the CCSO Traffic Unit partnered with members of the CCSO Aviation Unit to conduct a traffic initiative in response to the large number of complaints of speeding motorcycles on the roadways. February 29, 2024 – Port Charlotte, FL Four females were arrested in Port Charlotte after a months-long string of liquor store thefts that spanned 16 jurisdictions. The suspects are all juveniles from the St. Petersburg, Florida area and have been involved in liquor thefts across the state since at least December of 2023. Altogether, the group are suspects in 19 cases from 16 different agencies. February 26, 2024 – Englewood, FL A man who is in the US illegally was arrested on charges of sex battery at a hotel in Englewood, FL. Just after 9:00pm on Sunday, February 25, deputies responded to a call from a woman who stated that she had just been raped. She went on to state that she and the suspect were talking and she invited him to her room for a couple of drinks. February 15, 2024 – Englewood, FL After an investigation that lasted seven weeks, the grandson of a homicide victim has been arrested and charged with his murder. At 5:15am on December 28, 2023, Charlotte County deputies responded to 8432 Matecumbe Rd., in the South Gulf Cove community near Englewood, after receiving a call stating a man had been shot. Upon arrival, deputies located a deceased male with a gunshot wound in the front of the residence.
