Sorry for not blogging lately. We have been hit with so many snowstorms, it was hard to keep up. This has been the toughest Winter in a long time. Because of so much snow it is interfering with my cell signal and is taking forever to load pictures. I did upload videos on YouTube. Go to YouTube and type John in Alaska and you will see what I am dealing with. Hopefully, I have my friend Matt coming to help me with snow ❄️ removal. Thanks for understanding.

Hi folks, we are gaining longer daylights, about 5 minutes a day. I'm glad about that, I just wish we had more sun. I've been working on my solar panels today, they were covered in snow and ice. So, I got the snow off with my roof rake with an old towel attached to it. The ice was a different thing. I got on the roof and sprayed the panels with de-icer and used my hand-made scraper on the panels, worked good.
Had a nice breakfast before going out. Pancakes, blueberry syrup and pork bacon. Mmmm, good.
Halibut w/vegetables.
The top is what the whole panel looked like and the bott ..read more

Howdy, I got some rest last night, I slept to 9 am. Woke up to snow but, not a lot. To start off with I had a weird breakfast this morning, fruit cake, yep, you heard right, lol.
Slab some butter and you have breakfast.
Last night's dinner was something I haven't had in a long time. Hot Roast Beef sandwich with steamed vegetables. It was good.
Then, for a late night snack, it got really weird. Cold boiled potatoes with salt and pepper. LOL
Here is a breakfast some of you never heard of Scrapple, I remember my mom making it as a little kid. You slice it and pan fry ..read more

Hi everyone, I finally got all the sides done on the cabin.
The spot on the back wasn't done because, I decided I want to add a pantry for food, dishes and pots and pans.
I had to hire a guy with a tractor and scoop to come and clean out the snow. Being without my snowblower due to being broke down, the ruts were to deep.
He did a great job, cleaned it down to the gravel.
Now that I have my snowblower back, I can clean the yard up a little better.
A couple of mornings ago, I headed to town and the Sun was just coming up, about 10:30 am.
Well, I start ..read more

Hi folks, I know it's been awhile and I apologize for the delay. This is to let you know everything is fine. Wednesday, I had a colonoscophy, (sp?), they found one polyp and removed it and discovered I have an Ulcer. They are doing a biopsy and will let me know what is going on.
The weather has gotten warmer. Middle 30's and today it's slightly raining. This is such a relief from the snow and minus 30's. I am finishing working on the inside of my cabin so, I have more room and looks nicer. I will do another blog in a day or two with photos and I think you will like it.

Good morning everyone. Well, it snowed again last night and my snowblower broke down because, the choke was frozen from all the very cold weather. When we got the first snow, I started it up and the choke was frozen. Because I forced it, it broke and am waiting on a new carburetor to come from the East coast.
So I am waiting for my neighbor to come with his 4wheeler and plow me out. Here is the new snow from last night.
As you can see, I used a lot of wood.
Not to worry, my friend Matt hooked me up with close to a cord of wood.
Because today is a bit cold and I a ..read more

Hi folks, finally Winter is here and today it is 22F a little overcast but, still bright. The minus 25 degree weather for 2 weeks made it impossible to have much fun. I started off this morning with a nice breakfast.
Decided to go outside and split some firewood. This is what it looked before.
This is how it looks now after the cold spell we had.

Well, it's been awhile but, I'm back. I've had a lot going on medical, socially and work wise. First of all, Freddy is gone, he got to be too much with his running away and not wanting to go with me anywhere and I need a dog that is more willing to do things with. So. I rehomed Freddy with a musher who is close by and has told me Freddy is doing very well on his team.
Which brings me to Aurora, she is an Australian Shepard and a great companion.
Aurora is 7 years old and is very intelligent and obeys me very well.
She is good off leash and pretty much stays on the ..read more
