Overview Formerly a sleepy Colonial town, San Miguel de Allende has morphed into a magnet for international travelers seeking out some of the best gastronomy and restaurants that this country has to offer. It’s not unheard of for well-known and famous chefs located in other metropolitan areas to have a second location in San Miguel de Allende (or provide guest appearances at local restaurants). Additionally, this town is surrounded by wine country, which provides residents with an abundance of wineries and additional tourist attractions to visit. It’s no surprise that this is a popular destina ..read more

“Why would you open a Mexican bank account?” “I’ve already have my American credit cards so why would I get a Mexican debit card?” “I’m so curious as to why someone would need a bank account in Mexico if you have a US bank account and can use an ATM without fees.” These are just a few questions and comments that other expats in Mexico asked me when I inquired about which banks to use in Mexico. Yes, it’s true that you can easily live here without having a Mexican bank account, but having one opens more doors for opportunities. I’ll go over a few reasons later in this article. But first things ..read more

It wasn’t until the 1970s when Playa del Carmen experienced a shift in tourism, largely due to the attraction of tourists to a nearby island – Cozumel. This destination is great for expats looking to move to a mid-sized city in a tropical climate along the Caribbean coast. Additionally, for those that are not very acclimated or experienced with the Mexican culture, Playa del Carmen is a great starting point, as there are a lot of expats and tourists located here ..read more

Current Location: Tulum, Quintana Roo, Mexico So here I am, sitting outside on the patio at the Airbnb that we’re staying in for the next month, and I’m wondering to myself: What the hell am I starting a blog for? Don’t I already have enough on my plate with my full-time remote job, sightseeing bucket list, and road-tripping duties? How will I have time for my other side projects? And lastly, why would anyone find my blog useful when there’s already 1,239,012 travel blogs out there, especially those written by an expat? My girlfriend and I had just arrived from Mexico City to our first destina ..read more
