As a part of our mission at IBVI, we’re interested in more than just the quality of work and the employment of people who are blind or visually impaired. We care about them having fulfilling lives, and we work hard to get them the support they need. One way we support the blind and visually impaired community is by advocating for public policy change. For years, we’ve made annual visits to Washington, D.C. to show support for the AbilityOne Program, as well as other bills—and we’ve even hosted “policy day” at our own offices in Wisconsin. How IBVI Takes a Collaborative Approach to Quality Assurance This month we sat down with our Quality System Manager, Pam Paul, to talk about what quality assurance means to us at IBVI. When asked about our quality assurance capabilities, our confidence comes from the comprehensive quality management system (QMS) we’ve put in place. Here at IBVI, our focus is all about the customer—what they want, the requirements they have, the deadlines they’re up against…we make it our priority. IBVI’s Judy Henderson inspires with her perseverance, and stars in a globally recognized documentary Judy Henderson lost her sight in 1989, but she refuses to let her disability get in the way of living her life: “I still cook what I want, I still go to stores, and I still make a way to do the things I love to do—like the ceramics class I recently took at Vision Forward. It was so much fun!” It’s the kind of inner strength and determination that’s common among individuals adjusting to life with a disability.
