The remains of billionaire hotelier and politician Senator Buruji Kashamu were on Sunday buried amid tributes and tears from thousands of sympathisers and supporters at his Ijebu Igbo residence. Kashamu, strong man of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, was interred at around 12: 45pm at his private home in Ijebu – Igbo in accordance with Islamic rites. He was 62. Former Head of State, General Abdulsalam Abubakar, has returned back to Minna from a medical trip to London. Abdulsalam had travelled to London in June for medical treatment. The Zonal Coordinator of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Walson Brandon, has said over 500 communities are at risk of flood this year. Brandon who disclosed this to The Nation in Port Harcourt, Rivers state yesterday said the South-south zone would conclude its sensitisation campaign to vulnerable communities in the zone next week. The Acting Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Prof. Kemebradikumo Daniel Pondei, on Saturday threw a fresh bombshell at the National Assembly over the ongoing probe of the agency by the legislative arm.
