What would a Communist Britain name things?
Alternate History Forum

This isn't a question about a Communist/Socialist Britain in general, this is about what it would name things if it was the very first to experience a revolution. So no Communes of France, Deutsche Raterepubliken, or Workers' Soviets. What would they call things like their workers' councils, as well as their administrative divisions and the like? Because a lot of the settings with leftist revolutions have them occur in non-Anglosphere countries, so they have fittingly... Read more ..read more

Motivation: They're sick and tired of being pushed around by the Entente empires, and see the Germans, Ottomans & Austro-Hungarians as less likely to be able to pick on them due to distance (exception being Iran having some fear of the ottomans, and China having some fear of the Germans ..read more

"Libertad Y Orden", Liberty and Order Notes From Me, the Author Hello there gentlemen and gentlewomen! My name's Autopilot, but you can also just call me Auto. Today, I want to present y'all a project I've been thinking about for quite a while now. While I am not new to this website, and in fact, I've made a (rather unfinished) timeline in this forum, I've always wanted to make a timeline related to Latin America, my home region... "In all the decisions I have made in my public life, I have always tried to do what was best for the Nation. Throughout the long and difficult period of Watergate, I have felt it was my duty to persevere, to make every possible effort to complete the term of office to which you elected me." ... "From the discussions I have had with Congressional and other leaders, I have concluded that because of the Watergate matter, I might not have the support of the Congress that I would... AUTHORS NOTE: Heyo! Saph here. This is gonna be one of those timelines that probably doesn't make much sense at first, but I promise it will begin to make more sense once more updates get released. However, that's kind of the point of this one. Expect updates probably at least once a week, depending on when I can get around to it, and I'll keep you posted! = PRELUDE I'm still not entirely sure why he didn't run in 72, maybe it was Gene, or Eleanor having concerns about... Read more ..read more

Early Hawaiian Statehood - Effects on American Politics?
Alternate History Forum
by Super_Cool2

When Hawaii was an independent nation, both as a kingdom and a republic, there were times when it tried to negotiate its way into the USA as a full state. This never happened, and it would eventually just be seized in 1898 and made a territory for about 60 years before finally becoming a state. Suppose McKinley gets Hawaiian statehood during the first term of his presidency through a negotiation rather than seizure, with 1900 being the first presidential election for Hawaiians. -How will... So this is a story I've had on my mind for a while now. I figured it was better to post something so it wasn't sitting around on my hard drive, cause at least this way it might inspire someone to write a better thing than me. Credit to Lincoln, by David Herbert Donald for giving me the idea in the first place. I recognize that it may not be the most plausible (seeing as there was a reason this never happened in real life), but I hope to make it an interesting story regardless. ... Read more ..read more

A Man Can Dream: Yet Another Collaborative Timeline About Indrema, Gaming, and Pop Culture

Introduction “...When me and my buddies weren’t doing work, we were just avid gamers. When we discovered Linux gaming, we knew we wanted to have that slice of that pie. We wanted to do something different; support independent developers’ ideas instead of porting commercial games to Linux. We thought of the company as a dream machine for independent developers. That’s why we called it ‘Indrema’. [1]” - John Gildred, From A Dream To Reality: The History of Indrema... Click to expand... Read more ..read more
