The Calgary Flames’ 2023–24 season comes to a close tonight, and it’s been one to forget for most fans.
With the combination of multiple unrestricted free agents not wanting to re-sign with the team, subsequent trade speculation and execution throughout the season, and a rollercoaster performance on the ice from veterans and rookies, there has truly been too much to handle in the last few months.
Most of the time it’s sad when a season comes to an end, but with the past two years, it almost feels like a bit of a relief. Unfortunately for the Flames, that sentiment appears to be st ..read more

This chaotic and rumour-filled Calgary Flames season is almost at its end. One of the biggest stories throughout the year was Jacob Markstrom. Would he be moved ahead of the deadline? For a large part of the season, Markstrom was the only thing keeping the team close to relevant. Tensions increased when the Flames went on a swing through New York after the All-Star break.
The Flames reportedly asked Markstrom beforehand if he’d be interested in waiving his no-move clause (NMC) for the New Jersey Devils. Markstrom agreed. The Devils and Flames were down the road on a trade, but it didn’t get o ..read more

Just two more games remain in the regular season for the Calgary Wranglers as they get set for the playoffs. They have many additional bodies fighting for minutes in the lineup, and with the Flames’ season ending soon, there will be even more back and ready to compete in the next round.
Elsewhere, only Hunter Brzustewicz continues in the post-season. His Kitchener Rangers played three games, and the Flames’ blueliner has three points so far.
The rest of the Flames’ prospects are done for the year, but there is still much to discuss. Let’s jump into it.

Flames Visual Recap 81: Canucks clinch first in the Pacific while Calgary secures bottom-nine finish

The Calgary Flames made a quick stop in Vancouver for their penultimate game of the season. In facing the Canucks, it’d be a true tale of two Pacific Division teams. On one end of the standings, the Canucks were looking to clinch first in the division; on the other end, the Flames were looking to better their lottery chances.
Calgary lost the game, meaning they wouldn’t be able to catch the New Jersey Devils in the standings, thus giving them a bottom-nine finish. They can still finish with either the ninth-best lottery chances, or eighth, depending on what happens in their final game as well ..read more

We are finally nearing the end of the 2023–24 Calgary Flames season. There are only two games left, Tuesday against the Vancouver Canucks, and Thursday against the San Jose Sharks. After the Flames were eliminated from playoff contention many games ago, these remaining games can feel useless.
But, they still have big ramifications for the future of the organization. At this point, losing games isn’t the end of the world. You can never ask your team to lose games, but given their position, it’s not the end of the world if they continue to lose games and improve their draft position and draft l ..read more

If you are a fan of the Calgary Flames, then you probably both loved and hated last night’s wild 6–5 victory over the Arizona Coyotes.
Nothing beats a back-and-forth contest that includes a multi-goal comeback resulting in a win on home ice. That being said, the timing of the victory came a few months too late as the Flames are just two games away from finishing a disappointing 2023–24 NHL campaign.
So despite fans most likely leaving last night’s game happy, the win could prove to be extremely costly for the team’s draft position.
Fading luck for the Flames
As it stands right now, the ..read more
