Saved a transcript after a chat with Halfords yesterday in txt format, and I’m pretty sure the location it offered was notes. Can’t find it anywhere, is there any way to search files by date? Am I right in saying there is only the one notes location? Anyone know where it might have been saved? iPhone 11 iOS 17.3.1 ..read more

Screen replacement : Ismash vs auction site

I have an iPhone XS Max that has developed a black blob on the Conner of the screen. Apple is showing screen replacement at £350, Ismash for £160 and I guess I can buy the screen off ebay for about £26. The apple price is too high for an old phone and I would rather just buy an iPhone 15 instead but all the features are lost on me. These just leaves the Ismash and ebay route. Is Ismash using the same screens as what is sold on ebay? Thanks ..read more

Apple Trade in / Device Management

Hello In a bit of an office tidy I have found a boxed, working and great condition iPhone XR 64GB. It was an old work phone from a pervious employer that they didn't recover when we were upgraded a few years back. I no longer work for them and I cannot imagine they want it so thinking of getting rid of it. It is unlocked network wise, but still has the company Device Management - Management Profile on it. Not sure how to remove this so thought Apple Trade in might be the best bet -... Read more ..read more

US or UK iphone 14?

I have the opportunity of purchasing an iphone 14, 128 Gb & sim free either in the UK or US. Price differential is negligible, purchasing from Apple store in Boston including sales tax = $774 or £611; from John Lewis with a £50 saving exactly the same specs = £599. Apple US have confirmed in writing that the guarantee will be honoured in the UK & O2 have confirmed that the esim works here. So, question is, would the US iphone have a different set of apps & would there be any advantage to... Read more ..read more

Which iPhone upgrade?

I'm looking into an iPhone upgrade for my wife. Her current phone is iPhone 12, and she would like better photos from it (as the photos are a bit plain out of camera). I've been looking at the refurb and new options from Giffgaff. 13 Pro 256gb Refurb @ £459 14 Pro 256gb Refurb @ £599 15 Pro 128gb New @ £959 I've read that 14 Pro is not too much better than 13 Pro, but that was probably when the price difference was much larger than now. Not quite keen on the budget for 15 Pro, though... Read more ..read more

My missus the numpty recently changed her passcode and then forgot what it was! Obviously after several attempts she totally blocked it. The only solution was to plug on to pc and do factory reset, she has now lost all her photos. Is there any App that you can use to retrieve this, has anyone used one? Thanks in advance ..read more

Updating iPhone with low battery?

For as long as I can remember, the iPhone will not download any updates unless the battery is 50% or more, however I’ve just updated my 15 pro max to 17.3.1 on 20% battery, in fact when it finished installing, and rebooted, it was on 18%. Weird? Never noticed this until now, I’m wondering if it’s a software bug, allowing it to install updates regardless of battery %. Be interested to know if any other iPhone users can also download and install the update with less than 50% battery, and NOT... Read more ..read more

Apple warranty on iPhones - has it changed?

I've got an iPhone that is about a year and a 9months old. I wanted to get Apple to look at something for me that may be a software issue or it may be a hardware issue. I've not been into a "genius bar" for a few years now. The last time I did there was a 2 year warranty cover for iPhones. From looking at my apple account my phone only seems to have 1 year of cover. In the past I've had iPhones swapped out at the genius bar without too much problem if I had any sort of issue. Is this not... Read more ..read more
