The owners of the iconic 1969 Woodstock music festival, Woodstock Ventures, are preparing for a legal battle with Woodstock Roots in court over using Woodstock trademark in the New York cannabis market. The case is set to go before a jury on April 22nd, 2024. Woodstock Ventures alleges that Woodstock Roots, based in Pennsylvania, is infringing on their trademark and causing confusion among consumers.

Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson’s cannabis brand, Tyson 2.0, has hit a snag with its latest product recall due to moldy Tyson 2.0 flower. On Tuesday, the state of California ordered the mandatory recall of two products made under Mike Tyson’s cannabis brand due to the discovery that they were aspergillus-contaminated.

At a White House discussion on reducing marijuana penalties on Friday, rapper Fat Joe and vice president Kamala Harris took center stage. Harris denounced it “absurd” that the federal government continues to percieve marijuana as more dangerous than fentanyl. Far & Dotter, a Maryland medical and recreational adult-use dispensary has received a fine amounting to $26,000.00 after reports of unhygienic distribution practices. Footage obtained from security cameras revealed three dispensary employees retrieving packages of cannabis products from an outside dumpster where they had been disposed of 41 hours and nine minutes prior. The Maryland Cannabis Administration has executed a Consent Order in which serious breaches in “Sanitary Storage of Medical Cannabis” were addressed amongst other concerns.

After legalizing marijuana for adults last year, former Minnesota governor Jesse Ventura has stated he is going to start selling the drug at retail stores. The state is still figuring out how to do this.
According to Minnesota Public Radio, Ventura is partnering with Retro Bakery, a suburban Minneapolis-based company that makes THC sweets derived from hemp under the Jesse Ventura Farms brand, to develop his own line of cannabis candies.

Over the past several weeks, New York dispensaries saw an increase in numbers, despite a slow start. New York may have legalized cannabis in 2021. However, with many delays, the retail market was slow to gain momentum, seeing its first round of adult-use recreational dispensaries by early 2023.
