In case you weren’t aware, Carolina Panthers president of football operations and general manager Dan Morgan was once a linebacker. (Crazy, right?)
So maybe it was only right that he finished up his very first draft atop the front office with . . . you guessed it . . . a linebacker!
With the 240th overall pick of the 2024 NFL draft, the Panthers selected University of Michigan linebacker Michael Barrett.
The Valdosta, Ga. native played at the University of Michigan from 2019 to 2023. Over those five seasons, he amassed 208 total tackles (12.5 for a loss), 8.5 sacks, two interceptions, four pas ..read more

Carolina Panthers head coach Dave Canales has emphasized his search for versatility up to and even during the 2024 NFL draft. Well, it’s not hot air.
Canales and his cats grabbed Washington State Cougar Chau Smith-Wade with the 157th overall selection on Saturday. And despite being listed at 5-foot-10 and 184 pounds, the playmaking cornerback believes he’s more than just a nickel defender.
“With this whole pre-draft process, I’ve been talking to coaches and a lot of scouts,” he said after being selected. “They see me as a nickel, but I wouldn’t limit myself to just one position. I see myself b ..read more

With the 200th overall selection of the 2024 NFL draft, the team grabbed Mississippi State defensive tackle Jaden Crumedy.
A Hattiesburg, Miss. native, Crumedy played at nearby Mississippi State University from 2019 to 2023. Over that five-year run, he amassed 123 total tackles (16.0 for a loss), 8.5 sacks, five passes defensed and a forced fumble.
Crumedy measured in at 6-foot-4 and 301 pounds from the 2024 NFL scouting combine. He also registered a 4.97-second 40-yard dash and a 1.69-second 10-yard split—the ..read more

With great power comes great responsibility, and Ja’Tavion Sanders seems prepared to take on the power of the No. 0.
On Saturday afternoon, the Carolina Panthers began Day 3 of the 2024 NFL draft by selecting Sanders—a 6-foot-4, 245-pound tight end from the University of Texas. The 21-year-old spoke with reporters following the pick, and was asked if he wants to keeping donning the No. 0 into the pros.
“That’s the plan,” he replied with a smile. “If I’m lucky enough to get 0, then I’m definitely taking it for sure.”
Sanders put up some numbers in that digit as a Longhorn, particularly over the ..read more

If anyone knows what 101st overall pick Ja’Tavion Sanders is capable of, it may be 46th overall pick Jonathon Brooks.
The Carolina Panthers kicked off Day 3 of the 2024 NFL draft by selecting Sanders, the standout tight end out of the University of Texas. And not long after the announcement was made, Brooks—his fellow Longhorn and new fellow Panther—seemingly provided a pretty grim forecast for the rest of the league . . .
