If you're new here each month, I share a Monthly Menu Plan that is filled with easy - everyday dinner meals, sides and delicious desserts. If you're in a dinner rut or need a few new meals to add to your dinner rotation, I think my July Menu has you ..read more

As summer starts to finally wind down, are you still overloaded with fresh herbs? After all the drying and preserving that I did all summer, I still have plenty of fresh herbs growing in my backyard garden. Now the question comes of what to do with all those precious herbs. Freezing potatoes is a great way to preserve your harvest, and also a convenient way to have potatoes on hand for future meals and recipes. ?
Potatoes are one of my favorite vegetables to grow in our backyard homestead. They're inexpensive to grow and require little maintenance. Yes, it's hot, and it's definitely humid, but it's not cold, at least not in the sum ..read more

This old fashioned applesauce is so simple to make and uses only 3 ingredients, apples, water, and bit of sugar for sweetness.
Homemade applesauce is the simplest and most delicious way to enjoy fall apples, especially if you have a food mill. We have 4 apple trees in our backyard and this year only one tree produced fruit. Which isn't a problem because we harvested 105 apples from just that one tree which was such a blessing. Fall is apple season and when you have more apples than you can eat, applesauce is your answer.
Making applesauce is one of the best ways to pro ..read more
