The Princess Royal has visited the Household Cavalry at their barracks in Knightsbridge after soldiers and horses incurred injuries in an incident which saw several animals bolting through London. The horses were spooked by building noise and broke free on April 24th. Several soldiers were hurt. Princess Anne, who is Colonel of The Blues and Royals, visited the London barracks the day after the incident. The Army has thanked all those who tried to help and who have sent kind messages. Summing up the historic reign of Queen Elizabeth II is hard but a brand new sculpture aims to provide a lasting reminder of Her Late Majesty. A seven-foot bronze statue depicting the late monarch as a young woman was unveiled outside the local library on what would be her 98th birthday. King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain have hosted author Luis Mateo Diez to present a literary prize.  On April 23rd, The King and Queen presented Diez with the 2023 Cervantes Prize. The Miguel de Cervantes Prize is the most significant literary prize in the Spanish language; it is given to an author to celebrate an author’s lifetime achievement in Spanish language literature.  Diez, 81,  is a prolific author, and his Kingdom of Celama novels are incredibly popular. The Prince of Wales has been made the Great Master of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath. The appointment was confirmed by Buckingham Palace in a statement on 23 April with several new honours for members of the Royal Family. The Royal Order of the Bath is a military order dates back to the eighteenth century; King George I created the order on 18 May 1725. Queen Silvia of Sweden pulled out a historic tiara for a State Dinner in Stockholm. King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia are hosting the Finnish President for a State Visit, and Queen Silvia chose a notable piece. She wore the Nine-Prong Tiara, also commonly referred to as Queen Sofia’s Tiara. This tiara features 580 diamonds and has nine prongs to top off burst and floral elements. Queen Sofia of Spain has gone back to royal duties just days after being released from hospital. The queen, now 85 years old, headed to Poland to take part in the annual global Alzheimer’s Disease International Conference which is being held in Krakow. Lady Gabriella Windsor has moved into Kensington Palace two months after the tragic death of her husband, Thomas Kingston. The 43-year-old previously shared a house with Mr Kingston in Notting Hill, however, she has now moved back in with her parents, Prince and Princess Michael of Kent.
