Here are a few crochet gift ideas that every crocheter would love (hint, hint to my family!)
1. Crochet project journal
If like me your crocheter has lots of projects on the go at the same time it can be hard to remember which hooks and yarn you are using for which projects. This crochet journal has enough pages to keep track of 90 crochet projects and includes info on hook size conversion and general terminology.
2. Magazine Subscription
I love to give magazine subscriptions as gifts. You can personalise your gift to their hobbies and it can be enjoyed all ..read more

Autumn is nearly here! And the chocolate oranges are in the shops! (I'm super excited for the white chocolate limited edition, I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for that)
There are lots of crocheted pumpkins on Pinterest at the mo, this pattern has a hidden surprise and would make a lovely trick or treat gift on Halloween.
You can find the pattern here, on my Ravelry page.
Thanks for reading.

This set makes a really nice gift for anyone moving into their first home or for a student starting university. It's so cheap to put together but looks beautiful and is a truly thoughtful (and useful!) gift.
Starting with the crochet!
The washcloth is made from garden string and you can find the pattern on my previous blog post here. I made the label from a toilet roll tube which I cut in half, you could write a message or just put the word 'dishcloth' or 'washcloth' like I did.
Shopping
The bamboo cooking utensils are from home bargains and cost just £1.29 ..read more

During lockdown I was about to become an Auntie again and who doesn't love to crochet when a baby is on the way?!
UPDATE: I'm so excited to be able to share my pattern with you, it's available now in my Etsy shop. Or you can get the kit, which includes everything you need to make the blanket here!
Pattern
I worked up a few hexagons to get started and used them as a gauge to work out how many hexagons I would need, turned out it was a lot! I made about 50 in different colours, I didn't really plan the colour combinations so once I got closer to finishing I was a bit more selective about the co ..read more

After reading about unusual yarns in my trusty 'A little course in crochet' book and spotting the pattern for a string bag later on in the book, I thought it might be nice to make a reusable shopping bag out of garden twine. I've been on a bit of a plastic free mission lately (more about that later) and I'm always looking for an excuse to crochet!
Yarn
I picked up some garden string from B&M, it was really cheap and a bargain at £2.99 for 315 meters.

I prefer to join granny squares (or any pieces of crochet for that matter!) using mattress stitch, it's nearly invisible, doesn't leave a ridge and I love the finish it gives.
To join two granny squares
1. Lay out your granny squares right side up, in the design you want them.
2. Thread your darning needle with the same colour yarn (or if the granny square are different, choose the colour that will blend in the most, I am using a contrasting colour to make the stitches more visible)
3. Line up the edge stitches of the squares, working from the inside out, insert the needle through the back l ..read more

My mum loves swimming. She has visited lots of the lidos in the UK and is a keen open water swimmer. Me and my mum use to go swimming together every week before lockdown and for Mother's day I signed us both up to The British Heart Foundation mile swim in the Lake District.
Unfortunately it has been cancelled, but our entry has been rolled over to next year, so more time for training! I have never swam that far in open water (or in the pool!) so lots of training needed.
Any way back to crochet! As part of the entry you are given a target of £200 to raise, so I brainstormed a few ideas and thou ..read more
