Philadelphia Flyers general manager Danny Briere makes his first move of the off-season, inking goaltender Ivan Fedotov to a two-year 6.5 million dollar extension, per TSN’s Darren Dreger.
Ivan Fedotov agrees to 2 year extension with the @NHLFlyers. $3.25 mil AAV.
— Darren Dreger (@DarrenDreger) April 23, 2024
Fedotov played three games at the NHL level after finally coming to the US at the end of March. He started one of those three games and sported a .811 save percentage and a 4.95 GAA.
I know the Fedotov AAV is higher than expected, but the contract was agreed upon prior to the playe ..read more

The 2023-2024 season was full of surprises for the Philadelphia Flyers. Entering the season with low expectations, the team was in the playoff hunt for the majority of the campaign. Despite missing the postseason, there are plenty of positive takeaways for the rebuilding Flyers’ squad.
On Friday the team held their end of the season press conferences. Players spoke, as well as head coach John Tortorella and general manager Daniel Briere. The team’s general manager spoke at length on a number of topics heading into the offseason and the 2024-2025 regular season. Here are three of the biggest ta ..read more

The Pittsburgh Penguins (38-32-12) fell to the New York Islanders (39-27-16), 5-4 on Wednesday night which officially knocked them out of playoff contention. While the Philadelphia Flyers (38-33-11) had already been eliminated from the playoffs, the loss could offer Flyers’ fans some solace in seeing a familiar foe suffer the same fate.
However, one player on the ice for the Penguins means more to the Flyers’ faithful than others. Jeff Carter, who last played for the Flyers in 2011, actually retired following Pittsburgh’s win. While he spent most of his career away from Philadelphia, he was a ..read more

Alright, everyone, circle up; this is a safe environment to say how we really feel at the end of another season for the Philadelphia Flyers. After sleeping on my emotions, I have come to the following conclusion:

All the stars had to align for the Philadelphia Flyers (38-33-11) to claim an NHL Stanley Cup Playoff berth. They had to defeat the Washington Capitals (40-31-11) in regulation and hope the Montreal Canadiens overcame the Detroit Red Wings all the same.
“I’m proud of the team [the Philadelphia Flyers]. They fought to the end.”
John Tortorella; 4/16/2024
The Canadiens led 4-3 in their battle with the Red Wings. Then, David Perron tied the game, 4-4, with :03 remaining. That eliminated the Flyers from postseason contention.

If they win, they’re in.
Well, terms and conditions do apply. However, the approach is still the same. The Philadelphia Flyers (38-32-11) must take care of business in regulation versus the Washington Capitals (39-31-11). In addition, they’ll need some other favorable outcomes across the NHL, too.
The Philadelphia Flyers must win in regulation, and the Montreal Canadiens must defeat the Detroit Red Wings in regulation.

The Philadelphia Flyers (38-32-11) kept their NHL Stanley Cup Playoff aspirations alive.
Travis Konecny and Sam Ersson were highlights in a shutout victory against the New Jersey Devils (38-38-5) at the Wells Fargo Center. A shorthanded game-winner by Konecny stood as his 400th NHL career point and put him solely in the lead with six shorthanded goals in 2023-2024, ahead of Sam Reinhart and Simon Holmstrom.

Some people say playoff odds don’t matter. To an extent, that is true. Not long ago, the Philadelphia Flyers (37-32-11) had favorable odds of claiming a postseason berth before dropping each game between stops in Montreal. Before they face off against the New Jersey Devils (38-37-5) tonight at the Wells Fargo Center, the Flyers have a 15.1% chance of reaching the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs. The remaining scenarios to break into the postseason are:
Philadelphia Flyers win out, and the Pittsburgh Penguins finish 1-1-1 or 1-2-0

John Tortorella emphasized regaining structure as a main priority. Last night wasn’t solely about keeping postseason hopes alive, though the Philadelphia Flyers (37-32-11) did. It was about regaining dignity and worrying about their business. After hitting rock bottom in Montreal, the Flyers triumphed in Madison Square Garden against the New York Rangers (53-23-4). The win, 4-1, was the first against an NHL Metropolitan Division opponent in the 2024 calendar year for Philadelphia.
