Decals, t-shirts, o-rings: make your own!

As posted in another forum, one of the best buys I did a while ago was getting a cutting plotter: It's great! You can use it to cut vinyl, heat-transfer vinyl (for t-shirts, baseball caps, etc), paper, cardboard, plastic, fabric, whatever. And also use it with other tools like pens for sketching, a tool for embossing, etc. I needed an o-ring and noticed they are a) out of stock and b) getting very expensive over here. So I decided to make my own, finished with a carbon look... Read more ..read more

Wtb: beat-up dw 5k master side pedal
Drum Forum

I have a remote bass set up on my ride side of the kit, currently using my existing double pedal to play. But since primary/master pedal has everything intact, it is kinda in the way of other stuff (floor tom leg, cymbal stand foot...etc) DW sells remote pedal as a product but it costs too much. I also don't wanna break apart mine and put them back, since it is so easy to get all the screws stripped and DW pedal is known for that...etc. just wanna skip the hassle. Instead, trying to see... Have two great versatile Hearbeat cymbals that I've been using. These were made by Istanbul Mehmet, so have a very good consistency. 1. 16" Studio Hi-Hat pair $325 SHIPPED obo 1412/1596g Great condition. Light stick marks, no issues. Super versatile 2. 22" Custom Dry Light Ride $285 SHIPPED obo 2294g Named as Light Ride, but it's a great crash as well. I was going to send it to Timothy Roberts... Read more ..read more

- 2" in this case. A while back as the result of GAS to end all GAS.. I got a Gretsch 12 x 18 bass drum on Reverb. It has turned out to be incredible!! One of the best all around sounds Ive ever gotten out of any drum. Single ply on both sides.. a small piece of thick felt in the drum.. some additional muffling from outside when needed ... It hasn't let me down yet. Now I know good and well this could just be a 'Great' drum that has little to do with it's particulars but either way I'm... Read more ..read more

Surprise - COB hoops on ‘66 Club Date
Drum Forum

Found out that my 1966 Club Date (which I inherited from my great-uncle, and which I’ve had since 1992) has COB hoops on the 12 and 14! Completely by accident, went to put one of the LP rim-attached tambourines (which is held in place by a magnet). It didn’t “snap” into place. Tested a few other magnets, and no attraction from any of them. The “matching” Pioneer is from 68, and that has COS hoops. Nice little surprise ..read more

What’s the deal with this Supra?

I have questions about this snare. Badge is 388xxxx which is around year 2000. P33, P85, white nylon washers, and die cast hoops are consistent with approx year and catalog options. Drum weighs 9 lbs, 10.5 oz. I’ve never scene die cast with these gates and wonder if original. Wires are stamped Made in Taiwan and w/o script logo. I gather those were replaced with the heads. Should there be grommets with these imperial lugs? A Classic Maple of the same year(s) have them. Any experience and/or... Read more ..read more

Thoughts on a Ludwig Black Magic snare
Drum Forum

My local shop has a 6.5" by 14" Black Magic snare for sale for $399. It's got diecast hoops. Real nice-looking drum if you dig the all-black thing. I'm interested in it but don't know much about these drums and can't demo it with my loud band to know what it'll sound like. Any of you guys have one? Is this drum going to sound very similar to a 6.5" Supraphonic? The guy at the shop told me it's made of the same alloy, but with a black nickel finish instead of chrome, like on the Supra. I... If I look through the grommet of the Leedy it is stamped 7 41. So...I guess I chose the right year donor drum for the top hat restoration. I will have the last 6 tension rods next week. Then I'll un-tension the calf. Anybody in the market for a Leedy shell with 12 flaking /cracking lugs and 2 mufflers? I'll post it when it is ready to leave me in a few weeks. I'll post it in the for sale section here ..read more
