I thought there was someone on VDF who was looking for a red sparkle Ludwig 14” floor tom. I don’t remember if it was a normal-lug one or a Club Date they were seeking. In any case, I just spotted a 14” floor (not Club Date) on Facebook marketplace in Portland, Or. today, 3/29/24 ..read more

Guys,
I need help indentifying Ludwig 60's - 70's hardware. (cymbal stands, HH stands, Tom Holders, etc.) I have an attic full and would like to identify them before I sell them.
Can't find any information on stand indentification, especially from the 70's.
Thanks ..read more

Hi guys,
Haven't posted in a long while, but I thought I would see if my vintage drum brothers and sisters might have what I'm looking for.
I'm in need of a Ludwig sky blue pearl 12x8 tom, from the 60's preferably, but I will also settle for a 70's one as well. This can be a classic tom, or a club date tom, classic meaning with classic lugs.
Doesn't have to be collector condition, as this will be a part of a mixed set of orphans/players kit. Any info or leads would also help. I actually found one on Reverb.com, but if I have a chance not to pay almost $700 Canadian dollars with all the ridicul ..read more

I am in the process of going through some of my hardware and need help to indentify the year. Can you guys tell me what year this snare stand would be? Also is there any info out there that breaks down the ludwig hardware year by year?

Hi,
Here’s a new one to enter the Curotto Collection. The Craviotto Drum Company has once again partnered with Master Artisan drum builder Adrian Kirchler of AK Drums, Italy. This collaboration has resulted in a line of 20th anniversary snare drums and drum sets.
CRAVIOTTO AK 20th ANNIVERSARY 6.5 x 14 TRIPLE STACK BBC serial # 2016
Craviotto chose to number their 20th anniversary drums the same way Ludwig numbered their 100th Anniversary Gold Triumphal Models; 1909, 1910, 1911 etc. I chose serial #2016 for two reasons: 1. 2016 was the year Johnny Craviotto passed away. 2. The year 2016 also ..read more

Hi,
Here are a few more that I never did an article on. I am not a Gretsch collector and rarely dabble into the 1960s-70s but I love gold plated snare drums.
1969-70 GRETSCH 5 x 14 RB GOLD PLATED SNARE DRUM
1969-70 GRETSCH 5 x 14 SSB GOLD PLATED SNARE DRUM
The RB drum shows more wear than the SSB drum but overall the Gretsch gold plating on these drums leaves a lot to be desired; nothing even close to 1920s-30s Ludwig & Ludwig, Slingerland or Leedy gold plated drums.
A thank you to my good friend Steve Maxwell for the brief history on these drums: “The gold Gretsch snare was circa 69-70 ..read more

Hey guys, good to be back after along while away. Around 10 yrs, ago I was heavy collecting vintage drums. I could find great deals on vintage drum sets
all the time. My collection grew to around 30 very nice vintage sets and tons of hardware.
Now, I got the fever again. But, I'm thinking that these deals and vintage drum sets are now much harder to find now. In fact almost impossible. Do you guys still find vintage sets and great deals? How is the market compared to 10 yrs ago?
Thanks so much ..read more
