If you follow our blogs you’ll know we’ve been getting to know members of the Meet a Mentor community through our series of Spotlight interviews. With all this in mind we caught up with one of our long-standing mentors, Liliana Ziolek. Liliana is a software engineer with ov ..read more

If this is you — Congratulations! You’ve just been introduced to someone that could change your life. It’s hard to overstate the impact a mentor can have on your career, your life and your mental health. They can not only help with your known unknowns (the things you know you don’t know) but can also help you to find and solve the unknown unknowns (the things you had no idea about). If you are reading this because you’ve just been introduced to a mentor through Helen or Barry at Meet a Mentor t ..read more

All of us partake in some self-reflection regarding our careers from time to time. Sometimes, this might lead us to a place where we realise we’ve taken everything we can from what we’re currently doing, and it’s time for a sideways move or promotion; sometimes, it might lead to an epiphany and a complete change of direction; but most of the time, we just realise we want to improve a certain aspect of what we’re currently doing. The third blog in our series of interviews with MaM Founder Barry Cranford aims to help you do just that. So, if you think you could be better at what you do, or one ..read more

Exploring your career options: what questions should I ask my mentor?
Meet-a-Mentor Blog

This week I had a chat with the founder of Meet a Mentor, Barry Cranford. We discussed all things MAM and mentoring, but one real area of interest was understanding the reasons that people come to us to find a mentor. Barry’s been keeping an eye on the trends around this… ‘Typically, what I see when people join MAM is that one of these areas resonates the loudest with them; They need help understanding their options and/ or learning more about a future career goal (e.g. to one day become a thought leader, a CTO, or a senior developer) They know their goal, but they could do with some help fi ..read more

Meet-a-Mentor Blog

We can’t quite believe it, but it’s been just over 18 months since we made our first MAM introduction. We’ve come a really, really long way in that time so we thought what better time to update you on what’s happening and what’s coming next. At the last count we had… drum roll … 239 mentors…724 mentees and we’ve made 873 introductions! We know that 873 sounds like a lot of introductions, but we want to do more– before we say goodbye to 2018, we’d like to get to 1,000. Here’s how you can get involved and make our Christmas wish come true… If you’ve been thinking about signing up, either as a ..read more
