What was perhaps the longest season in franchise history came to an end for the Blackhawks on Tuesday night. Chicago fought valiantly, playing from a position that they probably shouldn't have been in, but in the end, the talent on the Vegas team was too much for them to handle. Corey Crawford had a good game yet again, but his rock solid goaltending was simply not enough on its own, and the Golden Knights won, 4-3. This eliminated the Blackhawks from the 2020 postseason, and the Golden Knights advanced to the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs with the 4-1 series win.

Corey Crawford singlehandedly won a hockey game.
The Blackhawks knew that their effort needed to be better in Game 4 to have a chance to extend their first round series against the Vegas Golden Knights. In a cruel twist of fate, the effort level shown by Chicago in last night's game could seemingly not have been worst. They were heavily outplayed, outmanned and outshot. In the end, however, the rock solid play of the man in the goal crease gave way to an unlikely win, and allowed the Blackhawks to come away with a 3-1 victory and live on to fight another day. I wish that I could write that the ..read more

Attempting to stave off an almost unconquerable series deficit, the Blackhawks entered Game 3 knowing that things had to be different. They were going up against a new starting goalie in the Vegas net, and some line shifts and different combinations would hopefully pay off and help to get their dismal offense firing. The story remained the same, sadly, as Vegas took Game 3, 2-1, to take a 3-0 stranglehold on the series and put Chicago on the brink of elimination.
Corey Crawford was once again left to fend for himself in the first forty minutes of the game. William Karlsson and Patrick Brown wo ..read more

The Blackhawks were looking to even up their series against Vegas after a dismal Game 1. Despite decent play by Corey Crawford in that game, the offense just didn't come to play, and Chicago knew they had to be better. Sadly, a better performance was not to be had. Playoff hockey is back, and despite being the eighth seeded team, the Blackhawks were looking to prove their naysayers wrong and get off to a strong start in their series against the Vegas Golden Knights. Sadly, their show of brilliance failed to appear, and Vegas dominated Game 1, easily dispatching the Blackhawks, 4-1.
The Blackhawks had a tough challenge in net in their former netminder, Robin Lehner. Despite many speculations about whether Lehner would get the starting nod over Marc-Andre Fleury, Lehner did indeed start the game, and proved to be a brick wall for Chicago. Although the firs ..read more

The Blackhawks went into Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Qualifying Round against the Oilers looking to close out the series. Edmonton's stars came to play and put up a decent fight, but in the end, Chicago prevailed in a back and forth game that ended with the Blackhawks advancing to the Stanley Cup Playoffs. This also marks the first time the Hawks had won a series of any kind since their 2015 run to the Stanley Cup, and the first such victory under head coach Jeremy Colliton.
The game started out quickly, as Josh Archibald put the puck past Crawford just 45 seconds into the game to give the Oiler ..read more

The best of five series for the Stanley Cup Qualifying Rounds meant that a game three would be a crucial game no matter the scenario. The Blackhawks entered Game 3 trying to take the series lead and shut down the Oilers, who were coming off of a dominating Game 2 win. When their backs were against the wall, the Hawks did what they do best, and overcame adversity to win the game at the last second, beating Edmonton 4-3.
Defenseman Olli Maatta continued his positive play in this series, scoring the first goal of the game halfway through the first period. The Oilers would come right back as Art R ..read more

The Blackhawks looked to keep their momentum going from their big Game 1 victory over the Edmonton Oilers in the Stanley Cup Qualifying Series. They'd made a definite impression against a stacked Oilers team, racking up 6 goals and chasing goalie Mike Smith from the net. A 2-0 series lead was not to be, however, as the Oilers came out strong right out of the gate and shut the Blackhawks offense down, taking Game 2, 6-4 to even the series at 1-1.
Edmonton didn't want to wait long to make a statement, and started the game firing on all cylinders. Connor McDavid showed early on why he is perhaps ..read more

The Blackhawks were riding high after their exhibition game against St. Louis. A combined shutout against the defending Stanley Cup champions undoubtedly lifted the Blackhawks spirits. Chicago was now looking onto their real challenge, their qualifying series against the Edmonton Oilers. The Oilers boast a tremendous top six offensive, solid defense and a veteran goalie in Mike Smith. The Hawks definitely wanted to make a statement Saturday in the first game of the series, and a statement they made. The Blackhawks downed Edmonton 6-4. It was a definite team effort. The sun was shining bright on Wednesday afternoon. It was 87, humid, and I was in the backyard barbecuing my burgers. It was perhaps the unlikeliest scenario in which an ice hockey game could be seen on tv. Regardless, it warmed my heart to see any form of hockey after so long. The Blackhawks were in Edmonton to play an exhibition game against the defending champion St. Louis Blues in preparation for their qualifying playoff round against the Oilers. Under the strangest circumstances possible, the Hawks were able to prevail, and shut out their rivals 4-0.
The game started off slow, which was t ..read more
