SEAL BEACH (CBSLA) – A man has been arrested on allegations of sexually assaulting an 85-year-old woman at a Seal Beach nursing home last week. Louie Alonso Alberto, 52, is charged in connection with a sexual assault which occurred on the morning of March 1, Seal Beach police reported Friday. He is charged with one felony count of sodomy of an incompetent person and two felony counts of assault with intent to commit a sexual offense. SEAL BEACH (CBSLA) – Two people lost their lives after a multi-vehicle crash happened early Sunday morning on the 405 freeway near Seal Beach. The California Highway Patrol believes one of the drivers involved may have been driving the wrong way on the 405 near the 605 freeway. Six vehicles were involved in the crash, which took place on southbound lanes. One driver was taken to the hospital with critical injuries while two others were treated at the scene. IRVINE (CBSLA) — A study from the University of California Irvine discovered that within a decade of data almost all of the domestic violence deaths in Orange County were women. “Let’s not let these losses of life in our county be a loss,” said UCI Law Domestic Violence Clinic Director Jane Stoever. “Let’s ensure our county learns all that it can from these tragedies.” Researchers used homicide and homicide-suicide case files in Orange County from 2006 to 2017 to make their conclusions. SANTA ANA (CBSLA) — On Saturday, the Orange County Health Care Agency expanded its beach closures after millions of gallons of sewage spilled into the Dominguez Channel in Carson two days prior. LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) — The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health issued a beach closure notice due to the release of approximately 2 to 4 million gallons of untreated sewage in the Dominguez Channel in Carson on Thursday. It was later reported on Friday afternoon, that at the high end of the spill, 6 to 7 million gallons of sewage were actually released. According to Public Health, the channel terminates into the Los Angeles Harbor at the Port of Los Angeles. SEAL BEACH (CBSLA) – A collision at the intersection of Seal Beach Boulevard and St. Andrews Drive resulted in one death on Thursday afternoon in Seal Beach. 29-year-old German Juarez was arrested following the two-vehicle collision, for both driving under the influence and manslaughter. The driver of the other vehicle, Juarez and a passenger in one of the vehicles were all taken to the hospital to treat injuries. SEAL BEACH (CBSLA) — Another local city is now using cameras to try and help police fight crime. Police installed a dozen cameras around the main shopping district in Seal Beach that have the capability to send back live pictures and record criminal activity. Downtown business owner E.J. SEAL BEACH (CBSLA) – A 35-year-old crew member of the Sea Queen II, a 100 foot commercial fishing vessel, went missing Saturday. The U.S. Coast Guard and other agencies were searching for the man, described as Asian and wearing a red sweatshirt and black sweatpants, in the ocean waters off of Sunset and Seal Beaches. He was last seen at around 2 a.m. when the boat was anchored in the area being searched, according to the Coast Guard. No other details were immediately available.
