Very slow 2.4 ghz connection on apple devices

Hello, I have tp-link modem/router which is currently making 2 wireless networks- 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. I have pretty trash network speed in my location so it should not make any difference in internet speed whether I am connected to 2.4 or 5 GHz network. But if I connect to 2.4 GHz network with my Apple devices (iphone, ipad....), the network speed (playing videos, browsing the internet...) is slow as hell. I feel like in the early 00. If I connect to 5GHz everything is just fine. If I connect to the 2.4 GHz for example with my Asus laptop the speed is okay ..read more

Wifi slow or dropping out.

I have been having problems with my wifi getting slow and dropping out frequently lately. My new neighbour has setup an Arlo wifi camera which is close to my theatre room. The amount of extra wifi channels I can see in the theatre room is getting bigger to the point now that my HTPC wont even connect to my wifi. I attempted to setup an old Huawei HG659 as an access point but after a few minutes of working it says no internet available. Will a mesh system help this? I will probably eventually run ethernet to my HTPC and streaming devices etc but I still need working wifi. Any help is appreciate ..read more

I’m contemplating setting up a homebridge on a raspberry pi. I have a hodgepodge collection of home automation gear gridconnect /eufy / brivis wifi gateway etc. Is it just easier to get google home and be done with it all…or should I spend the time to set it up on homebridge. Much advantage to HB over other platforms? Currently I’m using all the seperate apps to run the house ..read more

ASUS GT-AX11000 Dropping Connection

I hope this is the correct forum - I couldn't find a "router" forum! I have an ASUS GT-AX11000 router, with an RP-AC1900 extender. For the first 8 months this setup was rock solid. I have 34 devices connected, and speeds are excellent. Now, at least daily, and occassionally 2-3 times daily, the router completely drops the 5mhz channels. They are not discoverable, but the 2mhz channel is still there. Wired connections also are offline at this time. A reboot seems to resolve this. I shouldn't have to reboot a router daily in order to maintain wireless connectivity. Has anyone else experienced th ..read more

Dear all, I found that my 1.2V NiMH Eneloops cells don't work welll in some small devices, such as, pulse oximeter, label maker. And I want to get rechargeable substitutes since forever. Instead of using alkaline cells, it would be cheaper and less polluting in the long run to get rechargeable ones. Especially since I'm about to order a xtar L8 charger, which can handle 1.2V AA/AAA NiMH and also 1.5V lithium cells. May I know which 1.5V AA/AAA lithium rechargeable batteries you will suggest? Thanks ..read more

Is it possible to connect Ring Doorbell to chime Google Home Mini?

Hi everyone, I have a home setup with various Google Home Minis. I just moved and since there is no doorbell I'm considering getting a Ring doorbell. At least where I live, it is far more affordable than a Nest Doorbell. I have read online that 'limited integration' between the devices is possible, but I don't care for any of the fancy features like talking through my Google Home to my Ring and so forth. The only thing I care about is if I can link them so when my doorbell is rung, my Google Homes will make a chime so I will know someone's at the door. Is this possible? I could not find expl ..read more
