EF Tours Blog
by Kate Nolan
2y ago
Throughout the summer of 2021, EF staff joined several of our first student groups back on the road. In addition to international destinations, they traveled all over the U.S.—from culture-filled cities like Washington, D.C. and NYC, to the breathtaking National Parks. We were able to catch up with some of our staff members after they returned and the overall feeling was unanimous, travel with EF is back and it’s never felt more worthwhile. To give you a taste of what to expect and what you’ll experience on an EF Explore America tour, read their reflections below.    Small m ..read more

Mike Warner/Via Flickr If you get the chance to tour Normandy, I hope your itinerary includes a stop at the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial in Colleville-sur-Mer.  The cemetery is located on a bluff overlooking the eastern end of Omaha Beach, known as “Bloody Omaha” after the D-Day invasion which began on June 4, 1944.  You will certainly understand this nickname if you read books such as The Bedford Boys: One American Town’s Ultimate D-Day Sacrifice by Alex Kershaw.  As part of the first wave of soldiers to land on ”Bloody Omaha,” nineteen young men from this rural Virg ..read more

Entering motherland: a cross-cultural adoption story
EF Tours Blog
by Sarah Bennett

Caitlin with her daughter, Elizabeth On their first day together, Caitlin’s daughter, Elizabeth, didn’t know what to make of this strange blonde-haired, blue-eyed woman who had come to take her from China to the United States through a cross-cultural adoption. At any age, the concept of leaving what you know to go live in another country is daunting. At three, it’s incomprehensible. After completing the adoption paperwork, Caitlin took her daughter to a store for a few snacks and supplies. Elizabeth’s eyes lit up when she stumbled upon a pretty pair of shoes. “It was the first time she smiled ..read more
