BOSTON (CBS) — The Bruins made their first move of the offseason on Monday. Two days after the team was knocked out of the NHL Playoffs, Boston signed defenseman Jakub Zboril to a two-year contract extension. The deal will have an annual cap hit of $1,137,500, GM Don Sweeney announced Monday. The 25-year-old blueliner missed the majority of the 2021-22 season after he suffered a torn ACL in December. He was limited to just 10 games with the Bruins, tallying three assists to go with 24 hits while averaging 15:44 of ice time. RALEIGH, N.C. (CBS) — The Bruins played well at home throughout their first-round playoff series against the Carolina Hurricanes, but they could never find an answer in Raleigh. And now, their season has come to an end. The Hurricanes defeated Boston 3-2 in Game 7 of their first-round matchup Saturday at PNC Arena. The B’s, despite winning all three of their games at TD Garden during the best-of-seven series, fall in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs for the first time since 2017. BOSTON (CBS) — When Hampus Lindholm took the ice for Monday’s optional skate in Brighton, there was some hope that he could maybe suit up for the Bruins in Tuesday night’s Game 5 against the Hurricanes. Those hopes have been dashed. Lindholm did not travel to Raleigh and has been ruled out for Tuesday night’s tilt. The defenseman has not been cleared to return after taking a massive hit in Game 2. With Charlie McAvoy also sidelined for Boston, as he remains in COVID-19 protocols, the Bruins had Matt Grzelcyk and Brandon Carlo making up their top defensive pairing at Tuesday’s morning skate ..read more

BOSTON (CBS) — Tony DeAngelo has very quickly become the subject of many fans’ ire in Boston, a reality that was evident when Bruins fans heartily booed the Carolina defenseman every time he touched the puck during Sunday’s Game 4. While the boos were impossible to miss, DeAngelo doesn’t believe the volume was all that loud at the TD Garden. Speaking to the media between Games 4 and 5, DeAngelo took an unprompted shot at the rowdiness — or perceived lack thereof — from the Boston crowd. “There’s no panic in our locker room, 2-2 series and we’re back in front of a much louder building than was ..read more

BOSTON (CBS) — It’s no secret that a lot of players in the NHL really don’t like playing against Brad Marchand. The Bruins winger does an incredible job getting under the skin of anyone who isn’t wearing a spoked-B on their sweater. But that doesn’t mean those very players wouldn’t jump at the chance to share the ice with Marchand. That much is clear in this year’s NHLPA poll, which was released Wednesday. With 566 players on all 32 teams participating anonymously, Marchand was the top answer when asked they were asked “Which player do you least enjoy playing against, but would like to have on ..read more
