Photo by Troy Parla/Getty Images In a game that seemed destined to be a low scoring loss Boston was able to ride a hot goaltender to give them enough time to get a game winner. This game was ugly early and it seemed like Boston was doomed to return to their anemic ways, with the first period seeing the shots favor the home team by a 12-2 margin. Aerin Frankel would hold Montreal off the board. The second opened with leftover power play time for Montreal and they would take advantage. Frankel made the initial save but the puck bounced off and sat on the line where it was tapped in for the first ..read more

Photo by Joel Auerbach/Getty Images It wasn’t close, but the chaos at the end was kind of fun. In Game 1, the Bruins went down a goal before storming back with five of their own. In Game 2, the Panthers flipped the script, spotting the Bruins a 1-0 lead before a three-goal third turned the game on its head. Florida would add three more in a third period that quickly spiraled out of control en route to a 6-1 win, evening the second round series at a game apiece. Charlie Coyle scored the lone goal for the Bruins, who managed a paltry 15 shots on goal (including just three in the third period). T ..read more

Photo by Joel Auerbach/Getty Images Well that was something. After a heavy Florida start and a game-opening goal from Matthew Tkachuk resulting from a turnover, you could be forgiven for thinking “here we go again.” However, the Bruins turned the tables on the Panthers after that goal, using an aggressive forecheck to force turnovers and put pressure on the Panthers, who bent and broke. The B’s scored three times in just under seven minutes after Tkachuk’s goal before adding two more in the third to skate out of Amerant Bank Arena with a 5-1 win. While the score implies a comfortable result, J ..read more

Meghan Murphy for PWHL BOS At a few points in the season this seemed impossible, but Boston will be playing for the Walter Cup. Boston was up 3-0 to start the third, and was looking good entering the final frame. At this point Montreal caught some breaks cough Too Many Skaters cough and was able to even it up at 3-3 with three minutes remaining. The energy in the arena shifted at this point and Boston had a golden chance for a Mueller brace but she was shut down. Then in the waning minutes, Kaleigh Fratkin netted the playoff clincher.
