Hi, my wife has a problem with mobiles and I wondered if anyone has, or has used, RealSAM mobiles and if so, with what success? As they use oral commands, rather than fingers, they seem ideal ..read more

Hi our mum has been married to a controlling and sometimes violent man for many years now. She was diagnosed with dementia 2 years ago He never wanted us to be around mum spend time with her and do everything in his power to prevent her from doing so. Now she has dementia it is much easier for him to control her. She no longer has the capacity to fight back. We contacted social services and they investigated many of our claims S42. This came to nothing and was immensely frustrating. My main...

I got in from work last evening, and out of the blue my husband asked me if I was going to be getting married.
Told him no, I am already married....to him
He said I could not be married to him he was too old for me to be married to him
We have an age gap of 24 years.
This has never bothered him before, but I am wondering if I am losing him to this disease?
Hurt and extremely sad.
I can't wrap him in cotton wool but I wish I could.
How can I explain that yes we really are married? I tried...

How would a deprivation of liberty safeguards help my parents in their own home?
My dad has late stage Alzheimer's and my mum has early to mid stage. They live alone but my brother stays their just at night.
They both have a care package. 4 visits for my dad and 3 for my mum because of her frailty.
My mum only recently got diagnosed with the Alzheimer's.
They are 88 and 89 yrs old. They have 6 cats that they both get lots of comfort from. My mum is constantly fussing over them and...

My mother (87) has Alzheimer's and is being cared for at her home. My father cared for her until he died in 2022, and told us that at some point he knew my mum would have to go into a care home. My brother (53, single) has moved back to her home to care for her, but he also works full time. We both have LPA over her covering her health and finances.
I'm worried mostly about my brother. I live too far away to provide practical help, but my mum's incontinence is getting severe. She managed to...

My mom, 73, is in the middle-late stages of dementia and lives in a care home (which she doesn't like). She's on both antidepressants and dopaquel to try to help with her moods - the drugs have shown some improvement day-to-day, but she still complains about her life in care. She has stage IV cancer (colorectal with liver metastases) and recently underwent 6 months of palliative chemo. From the outset, the doctors made it clear the chemo wasn't going to be curative. Even at the time (her...

Greetings from Canada. I am new here and happy to have found this active forum.
2015 - Doreen - my dearest friend (82) received dementia diagnoses and continued to live her independent life. Unfortunately, it would change for the worst.
2018 - unemployed daughter(55) crashed her mother's life. The house has been consumed by hoarding. Doreen's friends were bullied away from her life.
Long story short.....
Doreen. Visible decline in physical health, due to dehydration & electrolyte...
