I do understand how how answer was calculated for the following: "Mr C received two interest free loans from S Ltd: £7400 in January 2023 and £ 9200 in November 2023." What is the taxable amount? The answer is £270 but cannot work out how did they got to that answer as my calculations were as follows: 7400 x 3/12 x 2.25% = 41.63 ( if 7400 relates to year 22/23 then we would ignore it) 9200 x 5/12 x 2.25% = 86.25 So my calculation result is nowhere near 270.Please help understand ..read more

Hi, Can anyone help me with this? A sole trader client has received “payment for credit turnover at 1% Cashback” in their Santander bank account. “This gives value back to businesses, paying cashback on their account turnover. The amount of cashback grows as their business grows, with a maximum reward of up to £300 per annum. The rate of cashback is tiered at 1%, 2% or 3% dependent on the amount of money paid into their account, the annual credit turnover” How would this be treated in the accounts? Thanks ..read more

Hi everyone, I am considering starting a bookkeeping business, potentially accounting for small business however I have no practice experience. I currently work full time, where I have gained a lot of management accounts experience taking accounts to TB. Also, I am still studying ACCA and have children so am busy. This would be a "side hustle" to begin with to enjoy a bit of extra cash. I understand there would be start up costs to begin, AAT licence, software, insurance etc., but would anyone have any other advice. Would it be worth, would there be much requirements for bookkeepers or would m ..read more

Hi, I am now unable to gain access to a software which I used to use in order to generate accounts for Companies House. When I look on their website, it claims that I can send in a copy of the accounts I prepare for the Charity Commission on form CC17a. Does anyone else who deals with the accounts for a Charity do this or if not, what do you suggest? I have called Companies House and they just state to send them in and see what happens basically!! Any advice would be much appreciated, Kathleen Smith ..read more
