The 116th annual Epiphany will take place on Jan. 6, 2022. Our community has commemorated the Christ’s Baptism with the ceremonial cross dive for close to a century. The day begins with Orthros and Liturgy services at St. Nicholas Cathedral. Following Liturgy, a procession of clergy and faithful winds its way to Spring Bayou. This year’s Epiphany celebration will be a little different due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The city is prohibiting crowds from gathering near the Spring Bayou to watch the cross dive. The 8 a.m. mass will be limited to 50% capacity, meaning only 250 patrons can attend. Churchgoers will be spread out to allow for social distancing. Masks are required. Just in time for the weekend, restaurants and bars can operate at full capacity — regardless of local government rules — as Florida moves onto Phase 3 of its COVID-19 reopening plan, the governor said Friday.
