How Nimona Saved Me

I LOVE NIMONA!! Book and Movie!! They're both amazing for different and similar reasons. I used "I'm just Nimona(but my name)" all the time now when people ask me to explain my gender. Gender is something I don't subscribe to nor have the words for but am similatenously decorated with. Nimona has made me feel seen more than any other character. She's an icon I've seen sooooo many people speculate is genderfluid or labelless. For me she's always queer and her gender is beyond mortal meaning, just Nimona.   When I first watched it I was in a really dark place, I was where Nimona was. And af ..read more

Lesbian Visibility Day falls on April 26th, and is a day to celebrate the experience of being a lesbian and raise awareness to the real issues lesbians face in the community.    Lesbian is the first letter in the LGBTQIA+ acronym, and has traditionally meant a woman who has sexual or romantic attraction to other women. Today, a lot of non-binary and gender non-conforming individuals also call themselves lesbians, and the term lesbian has sometimes been broadened to include both female and non-binary attraction. Like many parts of the queer experience, calling yourself a lesbi ..read more

I honestly don't know what else to say. My head starting hurting a lot. I feel this weight on me constantly. I feel tired and drained. I only study so my good grades make my mum happy (she's an angel who's been through hell) and to set an example for my little sisters. I love them. I cry at little things. No reason. I get stressed about random things. I used to be so extroverted and chill but now I get anxious even if I'm just paying for the sushi i bought. I feel judged, scared and I dunno. I feel like Im just a shell now. A piece of what I'm supposed to be. Ive been to the school counselor l ..read more

Hi guys,   This is my first time on here, so bear with me with these things. Thanks for understanding. I've been really struggling with depression and loneliness lately, and I don't know how to navigate through this. I think I have problems with meeting new friends and new dates.   Lately, I have felt like I did not connect with my friends at all, saving for a few friends. I have tried hard to balance between my work, meetings and hangouts with friends. A good side of my work is currently I'm doing a WFH intern position, so me scheduling time to go out with friends can be pretty flex ..read more

Struggling with our bodies and body image is something that is experienced by many people. While we want to love our bodies for everything they do for us, in the ReachOut community we realise that sometimes it can be really tough to be positive about your body. It’s important to be able to talk about our experiences with body image, while also keeping our community as a safe space for readers.    Talking safely about body image is important because: Being honest about body image struggles in a world filled with unrealistic body standards and inconsistent messages about our bodies ca ..read more

Finding a solid balance between study and life is super important. If you’re at school, TAFE or university, chances are you’ll have assignments to complete and study to get on top of. Sometimes, this can make it harder to manage other important responsibilities you may have, like a job, extracurriculars, or hobbies.    If you’re finding it difficult to strike that balance between your studies and everyday life, you might end up feeling overwhelmed and stressed for long periods. And over time, these feelings can cause burnout and begin to impact your daily life, so it’s important to ..read more
