A Neighbourhood Free House With A Great Spring Menu It’s always a joy to discover that there is a great place to eat in your neighbourhood and, even better, when it’s within a short stroll of your home. We’ve been meaning to pop in to The Cleveland Arms in Fiveways for ages, having been told many times that it’s a charming local with great food. Lured by the city lights, we just hadn’t got round to it. But recent news of a spring menu launch provided the perfect excuse and we booked in. Given the wealth of activities available in Brighton last Saturday night, we were half expecting The Clevel ..read more

A sunny Sunday roast at The Farm Tavern The Farm Tavern in Hove is a hidden gem just off the main strip on Farm Road. As the sister pub to The Geese, which has won the Best Sunday Roast in the BRAVOs three times (2019, 2022, and 2023), we had high expectations. So last Sunday, we decided to check out their Sunday roast, and – oh boy – were we impressed!  So much energy in Brighton Brighton is the place to be right now! There’s so much excitement in the air, especially with the Brighton Fringe, The Great Escape, and the Eurovision Finals (which aired the night before our visit). And you c ..read more

Tasty views and sumptuous wines: Albourne Estate If you’ve never been to a local vineyard, now’s the time. The Sussex wine industry is booming and it’s not all ‘notes of elderflower and butterfly wings’. A trip to a beautiful country estate is a fantastic date night, family picnic or friends’ road trip as well as a wannabe sommelier’s dream.  The good news is that there are ever-increasing numbers of estates just over the Downs from Brighton, and one of the most fabulous is Albourne Estate. Just eight miles from the city, you can drive there in a jiffy or take a train and taxi (from Hass ..read more

Lashings and lashings… One Saturday morning in early May, I left the house, with my husband and kid in tow, only to be lashed with rain and weighed down by the unseasonably dark skies. I can’t pretend I hadn’t imagined a slightly different version of events, less thwarted by the bloody weather. But we faced the challenge with unusual grit, buoyed by the promise of a good brunch and some drinks at The Brighton Cocktail Company.  It was so worth it… Brunch is a new endeavour for this excellent Seven Dials cocktail bar and kitchen. The North American owner – Shannon – and her excellent team ..read more

Better by the Dozen – Stella’s Oeuf experience
Brighton Restaurants | Latest Food News, Interviews, and Reviews

Stella’s brunch Oeuf experience is all it’s cracked up to be! Our blogger, Stella, visits Hove’s popular cafe for brunch, so let’s here about her ‘Frumpet’ Oeuf experience… One of my favourite jokes ever is an ole classic I like to bring out when offering someone an egg-based snack (usually my children, let’s face it). It goes like this: I ask how many eggs they want. They say (utterly disinterested) ‘one’; I say, with a jaunty wag of the finger, “Aha! But is one egg un oeuf?”. They bury their heads in their hands. Un oeuf = en-ough – geddit!!!?? Not only does it tell you how to pronounce ‘eg ..read more

A-typical brunch feast at Hove’s famous Argentine steakhouse There’s nothing quite like that feeling of seeing the first sunshine of the year after a long, dark Brighton winter. And when it happens on the first day of the long Easter bank holiday weekend, so much the better. This was a day just begging for brunch feast.  It was with a feeling of fuzzy warmth that we took ourselves along Hove’s Church Road, for a not-quite breakfast, not-quite-lunch feast at LatinoAmerica. And given the circumstances, we couldn’t say no to a glass of fizz..or two.  As frequent visitors to the venue’s ..read more

Steak dinner in Hove’s new restaurant is a stand-out success It takes a lot to stand out on the eatery-packed streets of Hove these days, but in little more than a month, Carne has earned its stripes as the new “go to” for a slice of fine dining indulgence. When we slipped into the Church Road spot on a wet and windy weekday evening, finding the welcome to be every bit as warm as the sumptuous interior, it was easy to see why. As its name suggests, the new Church Road venue has steak at its heart. Brought to you by Phil Bartley, the chef behind the famed gastronomical offerings of destination ..read more

Brighton’s best kept secret Drag Queen Brunch is Out and Proud at the Hilton Brighton Metropole Bar! When I got the call that I was invited to experience the Bottomless Brunch Drag Queen Cabaret at the Hilton Metropole Bar, I was over the moon. There is very little in this world that I love more than a bottomless brunch date with my bestie. But to add a drag show on top? I was made up!  Convenient parking and a location to die for! After parking in the convenient Metropole car park (which I had no idea existed), we went for a pre-brunch wander along the seafront. The Hilton Metropole has ..read more
