I needed to remove some paint from a wall and a wooden plaque; the latter was quite delicate, so I chose the Enviromose stripper. I can only say it isn’t very good, and based on my experience, I would not recommend it to anyone.
The instructions suggest a second coat if you remove more than six layers. I followed the instructions, and despite only having three coats to remove from the wall and two from the wood, I did apply a second coat after one hour. I then left it for 24 hours and continued with some other tasks. I returned to check, and it had bubbled in only a few areas. It did soften th ..read more

Amateur here.
I have an old cabinet that I think has been shabby chic’ed with chalk paint. I want to paint over it with eggshell.
Do I need some sort of primer first or can I paint straight over it after prepping the surface?
Many thanks

Quickest way I find to revive oak etc that has become silvered , is a combination of Oxalic acid crystals and a sharp kidney shaped cabinet scraper. Apply Oxalic acid leave for 10 to 15 minutes then scrape, wash down and sand. To finish apply Two coats of uv Osmo oil. I achieved a quick burr with a diamond sharpener. Take care to use a mask, well ventilated area and read appropriate safety advise.Cabinet scrapers are also worth a try on Varnish.

I decorated a 1st floor room in a house about 4 years ago and had to apply Zinsser Gardz due to spackling. This was followed by an emulsion finish. I have just been called back to do further work and noticed that there is some random dark shading occurring on one internal wall which is not particularly visible viewing face on but clearly seen side on albeit there is a good covering of paint. There is also shading around the wall/ceiling junctions. The property is circa 1930s and for the record the roof space is clean and airy. Any advise would be appreciated regarding the sealing of the walls ..read more
