Hi all! A couple of weeks ago I accidentally peeled a small strip of my Artex ceiling hidden away in a cupboard (I know, the builders really went to town with the Artex in our house! ). After a brief panic, I went ahead and carefully removed any larger flakes without disturbing it too much, and then sealed the area with 2 coats of Dulux Vinyl Matt Emulsion. It’s now been a week and I’ve noticed that the fresh paint has started to crack. I’ve added another thin coat as it’s only a small... Fresh Paint Flaking on Artex ..read more

About a month ago I painted the baby room with B&Q's GoodHome emulsion wall paint (minimal VOCs) and Dulux Eggshell Quick Dry (low VOC). The woodwork also has some Aqua BIn for the knots (minimal VOCs). The room still smells a little of paint. I've done the usual - onions, fans, vinegar, baking soda. I thought the paint smell went away after two weeks but maybe the warm weather has reactivated the paint? Or I had a new window fitted a week ago - could be from that? Although smells of... Hi. It looks like the previous owners of our property did not mist coat the fresh plaster. It is now starting to crack and peel in places. We are thinking of putting our home on the market and obviously need to make this good (or as good as possible). How do you recommend we proceed please? Thanks in advance for your help ..read more

I painted a new pressure treated gate over Christmas in my workshop and put it out after sealing the knots, painting it with Aluminium paint then little green oil gloss. It looks fab but as the weather has warmed up there are around 20 large bubbles that have appeared where the paint and aluminium paint hasn't bonded as when I pop the bubbles and scrape there's bare wood and not the alu paint like it hasn't bonded, These bubbles seem to be on the knots where I have used knotting solution.... I painted my back door last year which is composite door (wood in centre and metal on the in and outside) It was painted with Little Green Intelligent Eggshell. It was cracked around the beading where the glass is surrounding it at the top half of the door. It is holding the glass in basically like a molded surround. Also, where the beading pieces meet each other (2 pieces) it has separated like moisture has got in. I need a flexible filler as it's external and this side of the house gets... Hi all, Currently in the process of stripping door frames and staircase to repaint in a dark colour. Given it a good go so far mainly with 80 grit paper, but looking for advice on the next steps. These tiny irritating bits of white on the spindles are seemingly impossible to remove, are they going to be a real issue when it comes to priming or shall I just leave as is? The doorframes I’ve given a good go over but been advised since not to strip back to bare wood but just to key up and... Which road to take? The sanding method ..read more

Hello, I want to paint onto some bare plaster. The area is dry, but prone to damp, so I want to damp seal with Ronseal One Coat. My question is whether I mist spray first, or can I put the One Seal straight on? (Or do I mist spray using the One Coat?) Any advice gratefully received ..read more
