#ARSBRE preview Greville interview
Bees United | Welcome to the Brentford FC Supporters Trust

This Saturday we face Brentford at home and ahead of this, we had a chat with Greville Waterman, long-time Brentford fan and author of several books about the club. You finished in ninth place last season and are currently in 15th place. What has been the main factor in the team going backwards compared to the previous season? Well it is glaringly obvious, I think. Injuries and the absence of Ivan Toney have had a huge effect on the team. We have lost so many players over the season and continue to do so. We are currently without our entire first choice back four and obviously we also lost our ..read more

Stan Bowles

Like everybody else I was shocked and distressed to hear the sad news today of the death of a true legend of the game in Stan Bowles. I would like to remember him with a smile on his face as he gave such pleasure to untold millions of football fans with his skill, joie de vivre and overall approach to life. The term genius is thrown around with gay abandon and often applied to merely the very good rather than the rare one-offs and special ones, but nobody could ever quibble or complain at Stan being so described. He had a wonderful career that spanned the best part of ..read more

The Bees United BU-BFC Archive and the Bob Amos collection I was feeling rather pleased with life in general, as one does! This in particular, was on the way back from Wolverhampton on Saturday 10th February. You Redzzzz! Just approaching Rugby, I saw a post on one of the Facebook groups, from Julie, who hoped she could find a home for her Dad’s Brentford memorabilia. There were some super photos of books from lots of our famous authors. Wonderfully a few fans had already said “Get in touch with Bees United“, “see if they want the items for their BFC archive collection”. By that time I’d alre ..read more

Martin Lange saw his first Brentford game as a small boy in the 1950s after being taken to Griffin Park by his father. He became a successful property developer, and was elected to the Club’s Board of Directors in 1981, aged 37. Later that year he became Chairman and purchased the majority shareholding from former Chairman Dan Tana to become owner outright. The Martin Lange Vase Martin Lange opened the Centenary Lounge, which was the old supporters lounge at Griffin Park, before the Division Three match v Bristol City on Saturday 7 October 1989 (which Brentford lost 0-2). The Centenary Club wa ..read more

In the early 20th century, the West London , the Brentford, landscape was transformed with industries setting up in Ealing and Hounslow. The factories along the ‘Golden Mile’ of the Great West Road were modern stylish and eye-catching, designed to help promote and advertise their products and in  many cases to become the Londoin base for several Amercian companies keen to avoid export taxes into the UK. Gunnersbury Museum The team “over the road” have been working with volunteers to research and record the oral histories of those who worked at; A.E.C Southall, Trico Folberth and Firestone ..read more

Third season: Wolves at the door Brentford 1, Wolves 4; 27 December 2023 It never rains but it pours – and it certainly did when a reinvigorated Wolves side dropped by to contest the Bee’s final home game of the year. Struggling to find eleven players with plenty of first-team experience, Thomas Frank did the best he could, avoiding selecting any passer-by who looked injury-free and up for a kick-about. But even his spirit must have been dampened. Residual damage to nine or ten regulars may have made his job nightmarishly difficult, but then nobody said it would be easy. Even the much-improved ..read more

We never want to forget our history at BU and the contribution our Board volunteers and you all, made to all Bees fans and to Brentford FC. It was back in January 2006, that Bees United took a majority stake in Brentford FC completing its acquisition of Ron Noades’ 60% majority shareholding in the Club A few years earlier, in 2002, a year after BU was formed, a vision for a new stadium had been presented, and Hounslow Council Planning Committee had resolved to grant outline planning consent for housing on Griffin Park. That year was also the time when the ABeeC party won a seat on Hounslow Cou ..read more

Much Ado About Everything

“Much Ado About Something” When a week or so ago I was asked to suggest a title for this article on the January Transfer Window I suggested “Much Ado About Everything” because at the time it seemed that the club was on the verge of making a club record signing which might well have opened the eyes of many observers and transformed how we are perceived in the football world. Unfortunately, as we will learn later things changed and the deal was not completed so I have decided to change the title to “Much Ado About Something,” as a lot of good work was completed. The Bees entered the window in th ..read more
