Salaam and hello everyone, I’ve been working on this blend for at least a year now. What distinguishes Jum'ah 2 from its predecessor? Good portion of this blend has the ingredients that were distilled in-house. Known as the "blessed day of the week," Jum'ah 2 is a combination of Indian Jasmine, Damascena rose, and a touch of wild tobacco flower at the top. Middle note emerges elegantly with saffron, cultivated Kinam and Mysore sandal interplay that were bathing in the maceration of... Read more ..read more

Oud Distillation

One of the threads I miss the most from BN is the Distillation thread. Today I wanted to write about a topic that affects most of us in the Oudh business but I realised that BN is closed so I decided to start it here and hopefully continue on where we left there... One of the major challenges distillers can face is the material they receive. Usually these raw materials come through a chain of hunters, collectors/sorters, traders. Not everyone in that chain is going to be honest and... Read more ..read more

I'm curious what everyone's favourite incenses are from the big japanese houses (or other countries). For example any ones that show off oud or kyara particularly well? Or just a nice incense in general ..read more

Relationship betwen Spikenard and Tibetan Musk?
Ouddict

Hi all, Whilst working on a project for uni, I came across this passage talking about the differences between 'Tibetan Musk' and 'Chinese Musk' and why Tibetan musk might be superior. Apologies if this has already been pointed out, but seemed like an interesting observation. Read more ..read more

Taktsang 47 - Rising Phoenix Perfumery

Taktsang 47 is a Bhutanese oud oil as old as your grandparents (or maybe your parents) with a very unique and enjoyable profile. The oil itself is brown and quite thick. It is easy to apply and easily coats a dipstick. Not that you’d ever NEED to completely coat a dipstick because Taktsang 47 is incredible powerful smelling both lasting and projecting quite well. So how does it smell? The oil bares SOME resemblance to JK’s Dhansiri Ateek although is much more complex. Not quite as... Read more ..read more
