The Nagging "What if"

So, here's the reality. I'm effectively retired. I am fortunate to have a home, the belongings that are important to me, and I can coast through my days. But then I also know, for a fact, that I could 5X my monthly income by continuing to work. And that 5X just bugs the heck out of me. Why? Greed? Boredom? Just repeating actions that I've done for 50 years (ie. go to work, get paid, go to work). At what point do the, "yeah, but I could be making good money today" thought go away... I have decided that I am going to retire at the end of this year. That is scary enough, but what is really scary is that I plan to move. I can't bear the frightening Arizona heat anymore. I have decided to move to Georgia. I wanted to move to a state where there are lots of botanical gardens to visit. When I searched online it seems that Georgia has several. I hope to visit Gibbs Gardens. Here's my dilemma, I am overwhelmed with the research I have done and am having trouble narrowing... Read more ..read more

I have seen my auto and homeowners insurance skyrocket over the last year. I have had to fight for lower rates last year and to save a bit I had to increase my deductibles. No vehicle accidents and no homeowners claims and my credit score is consistently above 800. I’m in Virginia so it’s not like I’m in California or Florida. I fear it’s going to be another hike when I have to renew. Any thoughts ..read more

I do realize it is riddled with scams and scammers- old age and experience has solidified skepticism in me, with almost all things I am presented with- if it was a simple matter of looking it up on the net, library, or speaking with an "advisor"--and, I trusted my sources, further efforts on my part would be unnecessary. I am certain those actions would not lead to my approval- Bottom line is money....I don't have much ..but have enough presently, and intend to maintain it....though the... Read more ..read more
