Reverend Teijo Munnich the is founder and Dharma Teacher for the Great Tree Zen Women’s Temple, the Zen Center of Asheville and she is the Dharma Teacher for the Charlotte Zen Meditation Society. Teijo studied with Dainin Katagiri Roshi from 1975 until his death in 1990. Teijo was ordained as a Zen priest in 1981and received transmission in 1989. In addition to training at Hokyoji (Catching the Moon Zen Mountain Center) in Minnesota, Teijo also received formal training at Tassajara Zen Mountain Center in CA and Hosshinji in Obama, Japan. Rev. Liên Shutt was born into a Buddhist family in Vietnam and began her meditation practice in the Insight tradition. In 1998, she helped create Buddhists of Color, one of the early meditation groups committed to supporting practitioners of color San Francisco Bay area. Liên began her formal monastic training in 2002 at Tassajara Zen Monastery and continued her monastic training in Japan and Vietnam. Koen Vermeulen, JDPSN, began practicing with the Kwan Um School of Zen in 1992, frequently from Brussels to Paris for the monthly retreats.  He participated in a seven-week retreat in 1995 and a three-month Kyol Che in 1998. In 2013, Koen Vermeulen received Inka from Zen Master Wu Bong in Wu Bong Sah Temple in Poland. Sosan Theresa Flynn is the current president of the Soto Zen Buddhist Association of North America. She is also the Guiding Teacher at Clouds in Water Zen Center in St. Paul, Minnesota. Chimyo Atkinson began practicing Zen meditation in 1991. She was ordained by Rev. Teijo Munnich in 2007, received Dharma Transmission in 2015, and completed Zuise in 2016. She undertook her monastic training in both Japan and the United States. Chimyo served as Head of Practice at Great Tree Zen Women’s Temple and volunteered with the sangha at Avery-Mitchell Correctional Institute from 2015-2020. Zen Master Bon Shim (Aleksandra Porter) is the Regional Zen Master for the Kwan Um School of Zen in Europe. She began practicing with Zen Master Seung Sahn in 1978  and was given Inka, or permission to teach, in 1992. She received transmission in 2006.
